What is a hole in sailing?
No it is not what you pore all your money into.
I am referencing a hole in the wind. Imaging you are sailing along and the wind lightens up and you stop only to see other boats skirt your position and sail off. All have heard about the eye of a storm where the wind goes calm. This is the same principal only on a smaller scale. Wind in pressure zones rotate around its centre. This is why you get lifts and nocks. Think of why it is said to tack on a nock. You tack away from the centre hole in the wind. You often can not see the hole so observe the wind direction. This is harder when wind is light but more devastating when you fall into one.
