SOLVED: need help -- check for duplicates

guys, am I crazy? I have literally spent 5 hours with gpt and claude helping me and still have not figured out this most simple thing: take a new row (unprecessed) from google sheets, and check to see if the name is a duplicate in the rest of the sheet under the name column. I cannot... for the life of me... get this to work.

can anyone please help me weigh in? I've ended up with this SUPER overcomplicated node that does work to check for duplicates, but it only runs once even t ho there's a loop there. so if I have 20 new names, it'll run once, check for a duplciate, and then stop. I feel like this entire thing is just wrong...
