@Roy Chumley my struggles normally come around September. This is because the summer is a relaxing time and most students and parents take a rest from tuition. but in September it becomes a race to acquire as many students as possible

Hi, my name is Ammaar. I’m a recent engineering graduate. Throughout my time at university, I worked as a one-to-one, in-person tutor, mainly teaching GCSE Maths (can teach other subjects too but I enjoy maths). I really enjoyed helping students build confidence and finally understand topics they previously struggled with. Now that I’ve graduated, I am trying to transition into online tutoring. I want to work more flexibly and have better reach for students but I am struggling to find students also. My goal is to reach minimum £500 per month from online tutoring, bi-idhnillah. I currently work full time too hence want to be more realistic with my goal. I see this as something I can grow steadily while continuing to improve my teaching style online and provide real value to students. I also want to make better use of tools like my Wacom tablet to explain concepts visually. Outside of teaching and work, I enjoy badminton. I have made lots of friends by inviting brothers from my masjid, uni and work to play together a few times a week. I also like problem-solving in general which is probably why engineering and maths suited me so well!

Hello Mohammed, I hope you are well. I’ve been away travelling across Somaliland and it’s been very hectic so apologies for responding late. £500 per month shouldn’t take you long especially if your going to be doing one to one. If you get 5 parents paying you 100 that’s should do it for you 👍 The easiest way is to use social media to advertise yourself. If you put yourself on camera that’s the easiest way but if not you can still do it faceless
Hourly rate
Assalamu aleikum everyone how much do everyone charge per hour ?

I seen and heard of people charging £50-£80 per hour for A level maths. GCSE you can even charge £50 but generally I stick to £35 and give people a discount on to £30 if they ask me. I like to be flexible. A good client paying you £30 so better than a difficult person paying you £35 lol
Teaching students online.
Alhamdulilah, I managed to secure my first 3-5 students just through group chats on WhatsApp. Most of those students are abroad like Saudi etc. Does anyone have any advice on what equipment I would need to teach maths online in particular. Or any tools to make teaching easier online for both me and the students.

@Najma Farah I rarely use zoom whiteboard for maths, I use whiteboards a lot for science though. I normally teach on worksheets on the websites for maths

@Najma Farah I can’t advice specifically with year 6s or below since I never teach them however normally I would just type the topic into gooogle n save those pdf if I find them useful after a while I’ll have a long list of resources
