xmas haul?
is anybody getting and/or giving any instruments this xmas? if so, do tell!
sticker stash
dunno if i mentioned this or not, but at the school where i work, i implemented something i call The Sticker Sash. it's this plastic tool box where i dump stickers. the kiddos get to visit the Stash after lessons and rehearsals and get to pick a sticker. they all love it. (and this includes the 5 yr olds and 17 yr olds alike). here is my point in mentioning this. i'm the only person stocking the stash. if any of u are someone (or knows anybody) who has a company or other entity that has stickers that they would be willing to donate to the Stash, i'll glad ly accept them. literally any stickers r welcome, initially i got a few musical companies to supply stickers, but mostly now i just purchase bulk stickers from wherever i can find them and sort thru them to make sure they are always kid friendly. so yeah, if anybody has any stickers they wanna part with, please let me know and i'll give u a mailing address. thanx in advance!
Inquiring Minds Want To Know…
This is a fun little post. The more people who participate, the more fun it is. It's designed to bring the community a little closer together, and potentially make some new friends we can hang out with and jam with in person. Here's how it works… Tell us where you live. If you're in the US, check the comments to see if someone has already posted your state. If you find your state, reply to that comment with your city/town. If you don't find your state, comment to this post with your city and state. If you live in Canada, look for your province instead of state. If you're not in Canada or the US, look for your country instead of state. OPTIONAL: add a fun fact about your city/state. I'll start with the first comment below.

hey why does sometimes when i attempt to post it telle me that i need to "select a category"?
How you learn?
Im wondering how did everybody learn to play? Did you have an actual teacher? Teach yourself? Do you learn by watching? Do you learn by tab? Me personally, my Stepdad taught me the major chords, and I watched him play some songs then I kinda just used tab and now use youtube lessons. Ive been playing 20 years or so, and can learn pretty much anything. But I know S**t about theory, scales modes ect. Haha

after i strung up my 1st found guitar with tennis racquet gut from my uncles smashed racquet, i began writing songs in what i thought was guitar tuning. oddly ( sarcasm) none of my buddies could ever play any of the songs i wrote. then i got a silvertone from an old paster and then got me hal leonard's Jimi Hendrix Big Note Song Book and started teaching myself how to play songs that i knew. i figured that if it sounded like the song, then i was playing it correctly

@Mary Maddux yeah i grew up very poor in small town MS. honestly having to figure out creative ways to overcome not having access to things that other people could just go out and buy, has made me the weird thinker i am today. i can't remember what the tuning was that it was tuned to, it only had 3 strings on it and was tuned to some weird open chord. i named the instrument Torki and wrote the album Tokitunes on it, and then spent the next sevral years trying to translate those songs into some sort of standard tuning after i got the old Silvertone from this dead preacher's wife i knew.
