What Guitar brand is your favorite that you would never actually own?
For me it's Steinberger, love the design idea and the concept of locking different tunings for easier switching, but the weight distribution has always felt off and they don't really look or even play nice enough for me to pay the premium for them.

Mine would be the Dunable Yeti. It costs around $1600. Unique body shape but would rather spend that money on something else

Thinking too much
I’ve tried to learn finger picking for several years. As long as I’m not really thinking about my fingers and trying to stay in rhythm/time, I can do ok. But the second I lapse and focus my thoughts on my fingers, it all goes south. Usually only a minute or two. How can I keep my fingers going in rhythm for an extended period of time??? I thought it would come with time and practice, but I’m not so sure anymore.

This is way more common than you think, so you’re not broken and you’re not alone. What you’re describing is classic over-consciousness. When fingerpicking is working, your hands are running on muscle memory. The moment your brain jumps in to “supervise,” it hijacks the process and throws your timing off. That’s not a lack of practice...it’s actually a sign you’re close. A few things that help: Anchor the rhythm outside your fingers. Lightly tap your foot, sway, or even quietly count the beat in your head. Give your brain a simple job so it doesn’t start micromanaging your fingers. Loop short patterns longer than feels comfortable. Take a 1–2 bar pattern and loop it for several minutes without changing anything. The goal isn’t speed or complexity...it’s endurance and steadiness. Practice distraction on purpose. Once the pattern is comfortable, talk out loud, watch something low-stakes, or sing while playing. This trains your hands to keep going even when your attention shifts. Slow it down more than you think you should. If it falls apart after a minute, the tempo is still a little too fast. Slower builds automaticity, not boredom. One mindset shift that really helps: You’re not trying to control your fingers...you’re trying to trust them. Fingerpicking gets worse the harder you try to “do it right.”
