Boundaries can be hard with ADHD
People-pleasing + RSD + hyperfocus = boundary disaster. I used to: ❌ Say yes to everything ❌ Work 80-hour weeks ❌ Feel guilty for resting ❌ Burn out spectacularly Now teaching my community: ✅ No is a complete sentence ✅ Rest is productive ✅ Boundaries protect energy What boundary do you need to set?

Not people pleasing to avoid RSD symptoms in the first place. In the past I tended to overpromise to be liked, to overdeliver because I wanted to be liked and I learned to smile when I wanted to tell someone to eat 💩 because I didn't want the 💩 eater not to like me! I worked with an incredible coach who not only called me out on this when I tried to be liked by her, but made me aware of where it showed up in multiple aspects of my life, and how I could manage the RSD symptoms without compromising on my boundaries. It was a bloody wake-up call I could have used earlier in my life.

@Tori Cadry "eventually what was hard shifts into a more natural state" what a great perspective we can apply to many aspects of our lives! Thanks for this
I created the community I needed
Couldn't find a space where: • ADHD was understood, not fixed • Weird working styles were normalized • Emotional intensity was welcomed • Hyperfocus was celebrated So I built it. Best business decision ever. What did you create because you couldn't find it in the world?

I created a job for myself that allows me to work with the array of ADHD brains as well. Aren't we lucky that we get to create from a place of understanding and normalization?

@Bill Widmer I help creative-thinking people with "too many" ideas turn them into a desirable and profitable offer suite.

Got a new vacuum because my old one gave me an excuse not to use it.
TDAH Problems
Hi everyone! I’m new here! Finally, a community for ADHD people around the world. I’ve read a lot of your posts, and it really made me want to open up too. I have ADHD, predominantly inattentive type, and it’s really difficult. I’m 33 years old and I’m medicated. Here’s my problem: I really struggle to take action. I have a lot of ambition and talent, but every single day it’s incredibly hard just to start doing what I know I need to do. I’m an entrepreneur and I run a small funnel-building design business. And honestly, it’s complex just to follow my own system. I procrastinate a lot, I’m anxious, and I struggle to take action. Sometimes I get a boost of focus and end up cleaning or doing other things, but never the right things. I genuinely struggle with this. Even with medication, it doesn’t really change anything… yes, I feel more intense focus, but I still have trouble taking action. It’s like my brain only wants to work when I’m in danger, for example when there are client deadlines and pressure. Does anyone experience the same thing and can guide me? It would be amazing to hear from other people with ADHD who are trying to run their own business and have been through the same thing. Otherwise, I wish you all a great day 😊

@Ced Digital Welcome to the school of perfectly normal: finding the energy and concentration to finish something that feels less undesirable than the thing that you "should" be doing is common. Also, not finding the energy or concentration to do the thing that you feel you *do* want to do is totally normal. Basically, not getting shit done is when we want to is something lots of us struggle with. My sister discovered a way to have me finish my shit by the end of my day and I don't know what kind of magic it is but it works. My schedule that is effectively time blocked instead of strictly assigned. We go through all of the things I have to do during a day and the things that could become distracting and create blocks for them. But if I have an hour for writing but my writing brain isn't in yet, but social media is, then I switch the writing and social media times. If the dishes suddenly become interesting (which means I'm REALLY desperate not to do what needs to be done), I take that time from a break time. I'm technically switching time blocks so I get to finish my tasks at the time I wanted to. Like, I live in Montreal, in winter it's full dark by 16h so I want to be done by 14h so it's important to me that I get to leave by then and don't have things to do later. *That said*, she's also given me Friday mornings to finish anything I did have to roll over from another day. If I finish everything I planned in time it's Vendrefini (Fri-done) and I get the rest of the weekend off. If I have things to finish, it's Vendrefinir (Fri-do) until noon and I still get a half day off to enjoy the 19 minutes of winter sunlight. If you would like to see or discuss this scheduling technique, I'd be super happy to show you what she's done.
