Surviving Kids AND Fitness Goals
For those of you who have young kids and are struggling to balance being PRESENT parents while still being a good custodian to your fitness goals, here’s two things you can do that've really helped me out and I’m sure will help you too… (1) Give yourself grace and accept that sometimes you just have to perform an abbreviated version of whatever you had planned. As I constantly tell all of you, remember to focus on progress over perfection! …and (2) Put a single (or set) of weights in clear view of where you typically sit to watch tv, and allow them to taunt you into doing little micro workouts. This is a simple but effective psychological tool that when you have a list of say 5-10 little micro-sessions you can quickly deploy will yield big results in the long term. Idea here is that when kids give you small 5 minute windows to train in (say when they’re eating or playing by themselves within eye and ear shot), you can sneak in some work… These little micro-sessions may not yield the BIG wins that you were accustomed to before kids arrived into the equation, but they DO offer progress. Just remember, they may not seem like much, but SOMETHING is always better than NOTHING!!! Hands Up…KEEP FIGHTING!!! P.S. Thanks for bearing with me while I navigate my way through some family concerns. Things are going MUCH better of late and I promise once a few more hurdles are cleared, I’ll be back to daily contributions here..

This is something I needed to hear. I've gotten really busy with work lately and fallen behind on fitness. My morning routine has taken a backseat to getting in the office early and by the time I sit down to relax and let the stress out of my day it's 9:30 at night. And just recently my dog stopped wanting to run with me on weekends. He heard people setting off fireworks and is now afraid to leave the yard. It's all temporary but I feel like I'm being lazy. Thanks Coach for putting things in perspective.
What Choice Will YOU Make?
Everybody thinks it’s the BIG choices that are what make the big differences between success and failure. But I think the LITTLE choices ARE the big choices. For instance, I’m just heading back home from an archery bear hunt up in Idaho, get to the airport early and have to work my way up to the ticketing area after returning my rental car. It’s upstairs…so I’m faced with a choice…Do I take the elevator, escalator, or stairs? Given the fact I’ve got clear fitness goals AND I wish to be an example to those around me, I suitcase deadlift my luggage and take the stairs. Will that one decision and action yield that much of a result? No. But if I make an accumulation of decisions like that throughout the day (choosing effort over efficiency/ease), it most definitely WILL make a difference. Not only that, it helps build discipline too. So moving forward, lean i to EFORT over EASE… Hands Up…KEEP FIGHTING!!!

For years I worked in a tall building downtown. When I was on the second floor I took the stairs to the elevator. Then I got a job on the 7th floor and still took the stairs. Then I got moved to the 3rd floor and after that the 10th floor; and still took the stairs. It was like the one thing people knew about me; "Do you know Steve?" - "Who?" - "Steve, that guy that always takes the stairs" - "Oh yeah, that guy!" - Then I got the big job on the 21st floor. People were like "21 floors is a lot, we understand if you prefer the elevator." But Nooe - I still took the stairs!!

@Mila Aria Hello
Does Kettlebell Juggling Help Anything???
I’ve seen more and more “influencers” turn their kettlebell content into a Barnum & Bailey circus sideshow with all the juggling they do and this prompted my desire to make a statement on this matter… Although it LOOKS cool, I don’t think it’s benefits warrant your concern on the “should I be incorporating this into my training plan” front. And this is true with ALL flashy training. What you need to do on this front is ask yourself if you’re training with kettlebells to get better at training with kettlebells, or you’re training with them specifically for the purpose of improving your level of fitness...The tricks and complicated stuff like juggling looks cool, but mastering the basics is what yields the real results… Shun the shiny…focus on the basics!!! Hands Up..KEEP FIGHTING!!!

Kettlebell juggling is kind of like watching those lumberjack competitions. It's taking an important skill and turning it into an elaborate performance. You don't need to practice juggling a kettlebell, however you should be able to juggle because it's rooted in good form and technique.

@Jesse Foust yeah, that's kinda what I'm talking about. You don't need juggling skills to have proper form and technique, but you need to have proper form and technique to start juggling.
I Need Your Help!
Hey guys don’t want you to think I’ve forgotten about you! Please don’t confuse my silence for inactivity or negligence. The truth is, while recently going through some tough shit with a family member who’s battling addiction, one of my best outlets has been content and new product creation. That said, I've got some workout programs coming down the pipeline!!! Which one would you like to see next? (click on it to let me know) - Kettlebell MetCon Program - Kettlebell Bodybuilding Program - Kettlebell Man Maker Program (these are always my most popular YouTube videos, so I figured why not see if y’all would like me to create a program dedicated exclusively to them?!) - Kettlebell Anabolic Ballistics Program Let me know what you would be MOST interested in, and I’ll throw a pot of coffee on and get to work!!! Looking forward to rolling these out! Stay tuned! Hands Up…KEEP FIGHTING!!!

I'm torn between the Man-Maker program and the MetCon. I like having the information boiled down into whatever is most important. Also the already put together quick workouts that fit into a daily routine ate invaluable.

Hello. I'm currently living in Colorado. My primary goal is to not have a "Dad-Bod" at 50, which happens next year. I'm mainly looking for some simple, effective workouts that I can do at home.
