Eliminate “Burnout”…
We’re all meatheads here, but the truth is no matter how much we enjoy training, eventually we’re gonna have our peaks and valleys with the level of enthusiasm we have towards it. And if left unattended, this can eventually lead to a level of burnout that makes you fall out of love with training all together. My remedy for this is simple… Have some other hobbies in conjunction with lifting! For me it’s archery, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and competition barbecue. Some may argue that having multiple loves takes from the MAXIMUM you can get from one, but I find that being passionate about all of these hobbies keeps me from getting TOO hyper focused on one hobby (which makes those natural ebbs and flows of enthusiasm seem less extreme)… With that said, for the sake of getting to know more about you, what are some of the additional hobbies you’ve got?? Let me know in the comments or replying to this email…
Eliminate “Burnout”…
Your “Why” is Your #1 Fuel Source
After my last post about how “discipline” is what allows for you to show up consistently with your goals, and showing up even when you’re not “feeling it” is what the real point of separation is for successful and unsuccessful people, I feel like I need to add one very important point to that. That’s the importance of having a crystal clear and intimate relationship with your “WHY”. The ability to effortlessly default all of your decisions through a filter that takes the wellness of your WHY into hand is such a powerful tool in your arsenal, that it’s at the forefront of how I help to reframe many of my clients daily decision making skills. It’s what will take the new “Man-Maker Mentorship” from simply a top of the line body transformation coaching platform with expert training and diet advice, and turn into something far FAR bigger and more impactful. Look when it comes down to it, I know a lot of coaches who like me are well versed in how to get clients the desired physiques with desired performance gains that you’re probably going for. But the ones who understand that how a coach positively impacts a life (beyond how they look at the beach or how they perform in the gym) are the ones who are the absolute best. And when I teach you my approach to reframing your decision making skills to be consistently filtered through your WHY, the discipline required to make goal specific decisions becomes EASY!!! Get pumped guys! Come Monday, it’s on!!!

Are you showing up?
One of the reasons I love both bowhunting/archery and Jiu-Jitsu is that like fitness, they embody the definition of a “Perishable Skill”. A skill that requires you to SHOW UP daily for in order to maintain the developed skill you’ve created. These perishable skills are a funny thing though. They don’t care how much you love them. If you don’t exhibit the discipline to show up for them and execute with a high standard of excellence, the outcome isn’t gonna be what you want. If I don’t show up by putting 50 arrows in a target leading up to a hunt, then come crunch time for me to arrow my prey, the end goal won’t be achieved. If I don’t show up to my Jiu-Jitsu classes, the guys who did will be armed with the more refined skills to choke me out or latch on to a limb… And if I don’t show up for my training goals or execute a nutrition plan that reflects those goals, I won’t achieve them. I get that at our age it becomes more and more difficult to show up for those goals that we have. The ability to defer or delay gratification is a novel idea that everyone would agree has merit, but come crunch time, what are you going to allow to govern your decisions? Comfort or discomfort? You gonna be disciplined and SHOW UP or convince yourself that “you’ll get back at it tomorrow”??? The point of differentiation of the upcoming “Man-Maker Mentorship” is going to be its ability to hep many of you reveal fans that you’ve been capable of all along by simply helping rewire your decision making skills. I’m essentially going to help reframe your mental approach, match it up with a PERFECT diet & training game plan specifically for for you and your life’s special circumstances, and help fuel you down the path that leads to your most desired outcomes. Simple! Not easy. But definitely simple. So for those of you who are driven but feel a little “stuck”, what I’ll say is help is on the way! Get pumped man…This is gonna be something that transforms a choice few of you action takers both inside and out!!!

Winning Ingredients
Just a reminder that although genetics may play a role in your ceiling, it has absolutely NOTHING to do with your ability to reach what your true potential is. And trust me, that potential in ALL avenues of life is well beyond what many of you may expect. At the end of the day, you control only two things. Your EFFORT… And your ATTITUDE…. Double down on making sure you get the most out of each, while falling in love with the PROCESS more so than the OUTCOME, and you’ll be amazed at what manifests itself!!! Enjoy the weekend with loved ones…but be ready to CRUSH IT come Monday!!! Hands Up…Keep fighting!!!

Teaching Moment With My Son…
My 6 yr. old son who has been in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for close to a year now has been starting to show a little bit more of a competitive spirit of late when it comes to sparring (and other avenues of life as well). And given the fact that he’s always been one that has sought out validation from his loved ones (in particular my wife and I), and constantly worrying about what his performance in comparison to who he sees as his “competition”, I recently had to have the talk with him regarding who his TRUE competition is… “It’s YOU versus YOU, buddy…Always has and always will be!”…. The truth is, and I explained this to him, that from this point forward in life, the only competition he will ever face is himself. It’s a daily fight between the part of him that has a high standard of excellence, is disciplined, and yearns for self improvement, against the part of him that wants to just mail it in and be lazy… It’s a choice that he has to make, a choice that I have to make, and a choice that YOU have to make every moment of every day between now and the moment we all breath our last breath. When you adopt this mindset, which can be tough, because by definition it requires you to take complete ownership of your outcomes and ditch any excuses you may be making, it has a way of clearing your path for success. So moving forward, know who you’re up against, dig in, and be disciplined enough to make the tough choices that result in you notching more and more wins…YOU GOT THIS! Hands Up…KEEP FIGHTING!!!
