🥕 Carrot or 🥢 stick — which one actually gets you moving?
There are two kinds of motivators in this world: 🥕 The carrot people — they're chasing the reward. The income goal, the dream client, the feeling of finally launching that thing. The what's possible is what lights them up and gets them off the couch. 🥢 The stick people — they need a little pressure. A deadline, a consequence, a "I told people I was doing this and now I actually have to." The avoiding the ouch is what activates them. Neither one is wrong! I'll go first — I'm a carrot person with a stick backup plan. 😂 I can feel the vision all day long... and then also sign up for something public so there's an actual deadline. But anymore, I just find deadlines stressful and avoid them as much as possible. Drop yours below 👇 🥕 Carrot — the reward pulls me forward 🥢 Stick — the consequence pushes me forward 🤷 Both / It depends (And if you want to say why, I'm here for it — this stuff tells you so much about how to set up your systems and goals in a way that actually works for your brain.)

First of all: thank you for explaining because I've always been confused by this! I'm mostly carrot, but when it's taking a long time, stick keeps me going!
FriYAY! This or That
Happy Friday, all! Let's have some fun and get to know each other a bit more! This or That... Travel Edition ✈️ - Window or aisle seat? - Overpacking or carry-on only? - Plan every detail or figure it out there? - Tourist attractions or off the beaten path? - Hotel or Airbnb? - Fly or road trip?

This is fun! - I like both! Aisle because I don't like having to ask people to get up for me, but lately- I do like to be able to get into a cocoon position against the window and tune out. - Used to be an over-packer, now I'm a carry on unless we're driving. Then it's over-packing! - I like tourist and off the beaten path- depends on where - Love hotels, but if a lot of people it's fun to all be together in a house. My husband doesn't like airbnb's he feels weird being in strangers homes, but he deals. - If it's close enough to drive- prefer that so we can over-pack!
What if you burned the pile? 🔥
Let’s play with a thought experiment for a minute. A little dramatic… but stay with me... 🔥 What if you burned the pile? You know the one —the mental stack of to-dos, the obligations you said yes to out of guilt, the “shoulds,” the open tabs, the DMs you haven’t replied to, the 4,000 (do I hear 10,000? 30,000?) unread emails you swear you’ll deal with “someday.” What if you piled all of it up…struck a match…and let the whole thing go up in flames? What would happen? Would there be anything in that pile you’d actually miss? Anything truly urgent or essential… OR is most of it just noise you’ve been carrying out of habit? Would anything bad happen if you didn’t respond, fix, finish, or follow up? Or – and this is the real question – would it feel like release? Like creating a clean slate your brain hasn’t felt in years? Sometimes the reason we feel behind isn’t because we’re failing…it’s because we’re dragging around a pile of busywork that doesn’t even belong to us anymore. So today, just imagine: If you burned the pile, what would be lost? And what freedom might you gain? You don’t have to actually set anything on fire (tempting as it is 😅)…but noticing what you would burn tells you a lot about what’s still worth carrying. (Thanks to @Mike Richardson for sparking this reflection by suggesting I burn my own pile lol)

Epic! "we feel behind isn’t because we’re failing…it’s because we’re dragging around a pile of busywork that doesn’t even belong to us anymore." And- my inbox is infinity...

@Olivia Radcliffe makes so much sense!
Have you played around with this? 🤔
Has anyone been having fun playing with ChatGPTs new and improved image creation features? I may or may not have created holiday glam shots for me and Mike while waiting in the parking lot for soccer this morning 😜 The prompt I used (compliments of Maggie Giele) is in the comments - just copy and paste it (update your hair and such) and add a photo of yourself into a chat!

@Kate DuBois it's cute! curious- did you ask for you to be in the photo and this is what happened?
Snow or no?
It snowed so much here yesterday and I’m having my usual love–hate moment with it ❄️😂 The kid in me is like, “It’s so magical!! Let’s go play in it!!” (right there with my 5yo, fully ready for snow angels and hot cocoa after). And then the adulting part of me remembers… oh right… shoveling the driveway, driving on ice, and the trail of wet footprints that somehow end up everywhere in the house. So I’m curious — where do you stand on snow?

@Mike Richardson just had this exact same conversation about if it's going to be cold, let it be snow and beautiful, but....does it have to be that cold?
