Hi, everyone! I don't have many parent-friends (I have friends, but most of them aren't parents), but I want to tell SOMEONE about the amazing thing we got our kid for her birthday. It's called a Tin Can phone, and it's just like the old landlines from the days of yore, only with a parent-control app so only approved numbers can call in and out. Our kid (she's 9) is now calling grandparents, arranging playdates with friends, and learning phone etiquette like saying "hello" when you answer the phone and "let me check" when going to look at a calendar. This isn't a pitch or anything, I just love seeing the excitement and empowerment in her eyes when she makes a call herself, and I wanted to share that with someone...ANYONE! If your kid's been asking for a phone but they're still young, this is a great compromise before bringing cell phones/smartphones into the mix.
