Day 19
Good Morning CYC FAM[ily]! Day 19 and this new direction in our lives is building us stronger every single day. I can hear my Grandpa say, “Don’t look back, Tree Top, you’ve come too far to turn to old ways.” ✨ That sticks with me, because those old vices really do feel like old friends sometimes, showing up through strangers, or worse, through family. But we’re not who we used to be. We’re stronger, wiser, and more disciplined. 💪 I’ve learned that I don’t need to drag anyone with me on this journey. The ones who sit in yesterday, I just love them, pray for them, and keep moving forward. 🚶🏽‍♀️💨 This is about choosing YOU, choosing US. We don’t sit in the past anymore......we RISE. 🐬💛 Ha Haaaaaaaaaaa! (Keem’s voice).

You’re not lying about the old friends, that cup of coffee was my constant companion, at any cost. That’s 19 days at $6 a day. Plus cooking at home and not eating out? Priceless. My fridge looks like an organic produce section at the grocery store. I’m impressed! Healthy fuel for a healthy mind. And my skin is starting to show the benefits. Tightening up because I’m not consuming inflammatory and dehydrating substances. Gluten free is good for me. Belly fat showing definite reductions, I can see my feet again and clothes all fit better. Lots of fruit has me glowing from the inside. Thank you for this, it’s an epic journey. 🫶🏻🐬💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
A challenge in the challenge
🔥 Day 13 of the Challenge and for some of us, even deeper than that. The cravings are quieter, the systems are stronger, and the discipline is showing up in ways we didn’t even expect. 🐬 This weekend, I challenge you to add a challenge to the Challenge. Step into a space where you normally lean on a vice and prove to yourself you don’t need it. ☕ Hit a coffee shop and skip the latte : drink water, eat some eggs, and enjoy the vibe without the jitters. 🎉 Go out with your friends sober : dance harder, laugh louder, and remember the night fully. 🎶 Show up to an event without “pre-gaming” with weed : prove your presence is enough to enjoy it. 📺 Watch a movie without snacks : sit in the story, not the sugar. 🍝 Go to dinner without ordering a drink : taste the food like you actually have taste buds. The point isn’t to punish yourself….it’s to discover how much of the fun was always you, not the crutch. 💡 Novelty rewires the brain faster than routine. Every time we prove we can enjoy life without a vice, we rewire dopamine to reward presence instead of poison. So this weekend, flip the script. Add a challenge to your Challenge. Show yourself that freedom doesn’t come from vices, it comes from choosing yourself. If the cravings get loud, remember what it will feel like when you show up to Tuesday Chooseday and are able to share your win! 💬 What’s one thing you’ll do this weekend, vice-free, to prove to yourself that you were always the main event? 🫡🐬 Hakeem

I have family visiting so I’m just having to say no to everything that’s not on my list and take time for healthy food prep. Sautéed sweet onions and beet greens in balsamic vinegar saved my life yesterday. ❤️

I’m not punishing myself for stumbling and falling, I’m patting myself on the back for keeping moving in the right direction once I’m back on my feet. Since I’m in recovery this goes for all aspects of the cleanse. I can’t erase my past but I can make sure my present and future stay simple and sober. Still no coffee for 18 days and I haven’t gone back to gluten based, sugar coated anything. Fresh fruit and yogurt to start my day, homemade tea and straight water.
The Four Anchors of LIFE ⚓️
⏳ Time, presence, faith, and foundation : the four anchors that keep us steady long enough to see our blessings arrive. 🐬 The temptation when things feel uncertain is to get frantic, to numb out, to fall back into the very vices we said we’d let go.. but blessings don’t bloom overnight. Seeds need time, roots need depth, and storms need patience to pass. 💡 Our brains are wired with a negativity bias, meaning stress makes us over-focus on threats and under-notice opportunities. That’s why building a foundation gives our nervous system the calm to actually see the good when it comes. (Foundation course available now in classroom tabun SKOOL app) 📖 As Marcus Aurelius said: “The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way.” Even our struggles are shaping us to receive what’s meant for us. 🙏 “Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” — Martin Luther King Jr. So don’t block your blessings by running back to comfort when things feel heavy. Stay focused on the prize, stay present with your intention, and trust that the time you invest in your foundation is the very soil your blessings are rooting in. 💬 What blessing might already be growing in your life that you’ve been too frantic to notice? Enjoy your weekend - 🫡🐬 Hakeem

Sobriety and the freedom to enjoy the mental clarity it brings. It’s not a burden, it’s a blessing. Literally that which stood in the way, has become the way. This struggle and recovering from it has changed my life. 💪🏻🐬🫶🏻
Chooseday Recap 9/23
🌱 Today’s session with Evie was equal parts wisdom, science, and the kind of truths most people are too shy to say out loud. That’s why we loved it. 💫She took us through the heavy stuff : grief, menopause, and recovery. We discussed how awareness of our hormones and health can actually free us. We learned why muscle is medicine as we age, protecting metabolism and keeping us strong. 🥤 As a certified juice therapist, she broke down gut health and why colon care matters more than we admit. We even talked coffee enemas because sometimes the most uncomfortable conversations are the ones that clean us out (literally) 💊 We’re som things Borderline TMI for a self loser? Maybe. But for self choosers we want to know as much as we can about our health! 🐬 At the heart of it, today was about awareness: what we put in, what we flush out, and what systems we need to protect. Gut, hormones, muscle, colon : the unglamorous truths that actually determine how long and how well we thrive. This was the absolute best, I needed every word and it spoke to the depths of my perimenopausal soul. Thank you, Keem. You nailed it. This is why I chose myself, to be chosen. To get the message I need when I needed it most.
Foundational focus
🌅 The morning and the night are sacred. Not for your family, not for your job, not for your notifications .. for you! 🐬 If we don’t choose ourselves in those margins of the day, we eventually run out of capacity to choose the people we love when they truly need us. Empty cups don’t pour, they crack. ✨ Fill up first : Stretch, pray, write, move, breathe. Protect your mornings and nights so your days don’t collapse. Choosing yourself there isn’t selfish .. it’s how we show up selfless. Foundational living is the lifestyle of a true self chooser. What is your favorite part of your foundation? 🫡🐬Hakeem
