I saw this in another group and thought this group would like it
Greatest one line in a song ever, not a verse, chorus or bridge. Let's hear 'em

"I wanna talk to you, I wanna shampoo you, I want to renew you again and again" ... Joni Mitchell (All I really want).
Let's build a Mix.
There's a "game" my family does from time to time. We've got a sound system that allows for anyone on the network to add songs to the currently playlist. It's a sonos - which used to be a great system to use, but is now kind of a pain in the ass. Anyway. The game works like this: Someone picks a song to start the mix and plays it. BEFORE the song ends, the next person has to add a new track to the playlist which works with the currently playing song. The way a song works can be whatever - mood, style, lyrics - it just has to "work." y'know. Mix style. Given how much great music I've found from this community that I hadn't even known existed, I'm thinking this crew can produce some amazing mixes. The rules: a) I'm going to put a song at the bottom of this post. That's the first song. I'm going to label it as track "1." b) You need to find, play, and listen track number 1. c) Before the track ends, you must come up with a next track. d) Post a reply that lists both track "1." and your new addition - track "2." e) If there are multiple track 2's, track 4's, etc. - pick one to build from, and reply to that comment with your next track. This allows for the possibility that multiple people might be commenting around the same time, and not see that they're both posting a new track in response to the same song. We might get some branching mixes! f) Be sure to copy the whole playlist in your reply. E.g., if I was adding the 4th track, I'd post something like: 1. track one - band one 2. track two - band two 3. track three - band three 4. track four - band four That way, if there are branches - we know which branch you're adding to. And that's it! Let's see if we can't get at least a single ten track playlist going. And we'll play by the honor system. Do your best to find something before the previous track ends! Here's track one of this mix: 1. "Stupid Lesson" - J Church (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ct31GJUHozs)

Let's make a playlist: International DJ Day!
Hi! DJ John just announced that today is international DJ Day. What are your favorite songs that pay tribute to the transformative role of radio and DJs in particular? I know there are a few as I've made a playlist in my mind, but haven't gotten them on paper yet. Here's one to start: Dar Williams, "Are you out there?" https://genius.com/Dar-williams-are-you-out-there-lyrics "Perhaps I am a miscreation No one knows the truth, there is no future here And you’re the DJ speaks to my insomnia And laughs at all I had to fear Laughs at all I had to fear You always play the madmen poets Vinyl vision grungy bands You never know who’s still awake You never know who understands ..." Here's to you all! 🥂

Album for Specific Mood?
Is there an album you only really listen to when you’re in a very, very specific mood? Like, any other time feels like the wrong time if you’re not in that mood? Kind of like an anchor? For me, Radiohead’s The Bends is the album, and it surprises me because I’m a casual Radiohead fan, but that album was there for me and is still is. Anyone else with that kind of surprise affection?

For some reason I always gravitate to The Cure "Disintegration" and Pink Floyd "Dark Side of the Moon" when I drive at night (like long-distance road trip driving)... moody but can also sing along so helps keep me alert for that final leg of the journey.
How far have you traveled to see a band play?
Cheekface announced two distant 5-year anniversary shows for their 2nd album, Emphatically No. this morning. It got me thinking about maybe a trip out to catch one of them, and I thought I'd toss out a question for you all: what's the farthest you've traveled to see a show? For me, back in late 2019, I flew from Seattle down to Long Beach, CA to catch The Last doing a 40th anniversary show for their L.A. Explosion album at Alex's Bar. The Alley Cats, The Zeros, and Danny & The Doorknobs (a version of Trotsky Icepick) opened. It was an afternoon show, so I flew back after and was back home for dinner. 2nd pic is the Danny & the Doorknobs LP in my lap on the plane home that Vitus Mataré gifted me at the show for flying down to see them.

Amazing stories you all! In 1991 I followed Janes Addiction from Denver to Arizona to see them in 3 or 4 different venues. They were still playing in university auditoriums and small venues at that time. Last year I flew from Geneva (where I live now) to London to see them in one of their first (and last) shows on the European tour at the Roundhouse. Believe it or not, I got crowd surfed for the first time in my life at that show during the Mountain Song 😅...didn't last long, they had bouncers in the crowd who quickly shut it down but it was amazing. There is a short clip of it on the perryfarrelofficial Instagram feed.
