So one thing I’ve gotten into over the last few years is making a song-a-day mix. I got the idea from ex-MTV host Dave Holmes, and all you do is pick one song each day… something you hear, something you think of, something tied to an event/news item/personal milestone, etc. and you just keep building over 365. At the end of each year (or each month, even) not only do you have a sweet - and often very random! - mix but afterwards you can look back on it and re-live the time… be it “oh yeah, that’s the day I watched ____” or “I was out at my local and this song just hit the moment perfectly!” Just sharing in case anyone here wants to give it a go moving forward! Heard the first song off Ed O’Brien’s ‘Blue Morpho’ album - ‘Incantations’. Gorgeous music, excited for the full release - like getting a new Radiohead drop! 💙

You probably know this one as she’s been getting plenty of airplay on KEXP. Still, had to mention it as I love it and Mother by her band Cold Beat is also a gem.

I've been beating the drum for a while on this one and feel the need to spread the word on this again. If you're in the Seattle area, the ongoing Hotel Crocodile Lobby Sessions series is one of the best ways to see new, and up. & coming bands in the Seattle area from a wide range of genres. The next one in the series is electro/cumbia band Terror/Cactus. Terror/Cactus was a 2023 Sonic Guild gran recipient, and they have a new album coming out June 12th. These sessions are cheap ($12.32 in advance including fees!) and the intimate setting of the hotel lobby makes for a great, up-close experience with the band.
