Soul Music Thursdays in White Center
Just an FYI, my friends in Eric Blu and the Soul Revue will be playing free/no cover shows every Thurs night at Tim's Tavern in White Center (for those near to south Seattle). They are a big band soul/RnB outfit with a full horn section playing classic covers and originals. Come join me and shake your groove thing. https://www.timslivemusic.com/tims-tavern-events#/events/168774

Fav Band You Can't See live
What's a favorite band that you weren't able to see live? There has to be some rules on this one, so here we go: - You must have been able to see them at some point, but didn't, for whatever reason - There's no likely way for you to see them live in the future, for whatever reason For me, there was a chance I could have seen Concrete Blonde play in New Mexico, but I only found out about the concert the day before, and there was no way I would have been able to make it up to the show never mind getting tickets. Also for me, there's bands I thought I'd never see which I've now seen four or five times, and bands that felt like they were right there which I never caught.
First Show
I've considered doing a Morning Show about this but I only have 3 hours. It would take me 3 months. So mine was 16 years old, Jane's Addiction with Mary's Danish opening at Eastern Washington University. I remember walking in to "Coming Down the Mountain" and seeing bodies flying in the air, everyone wearing black, just absolute MAYHEM and all I wanted to do was more of this! I stayed out the pit that day and just stood there in awe to be seeing and hearing the music from a band I loved. I was HOOKED. I think they played 30 minutes because Perry was a mess but I didn't know any better and in fact was shocked when I saw a band play longer! Also first show in Seattle? Pixies. Moore Theater.
Songs that feel like hope
Title says it all. What song (currently - no wrong answer, repeat answers allowed) feels like hope to you? For me, right now, it's this track called "Hold On" by French 79. This came out in.. 2020 I think? maybe 2019, but regardless, it was there for 2020. The whole album was there, but this song in particular. There was more than just COVID going on for for me, which I could go into, but not tonight. Point being, this song was there for me. I just now pulled up the video for the first time so I could post it here, and holy shit but this even hits harder. I was totally a skater as a kid, and even rode goofy foot. Nostalgia and hope wrapped into one. Perfect. Post your track too if you can - I wanna hear it all. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgBBCzi7Kpc
Is anyone going to see Aimee Mann on 3/15?
I ask, because I bought VIP tickets a long time ago (pre-show sound-check + meet & greet), before I realized it conflicts with the annual Oscar party we host. I still want to go to the show, but I hate for the pre-show experience to go unused. If anyone else has tickets, I'd be happy to do an even trade. You take my pair of tix, I take yours.
