HRT & MTHFR gene mutation
Has anyone with a MTHFR gene mutation done HRT? What was your experience like?

Hi, I have a double copy and also COMT. Honestly, I feel 10x better on HRT. I do have to use DIM to help clear estrogen metabolites but only 3x week. MTHFR is more methylation issues, so with methylated B Vitamin support, you should be good.
Not sure if y’all can help!
So I’m 39 been in perimenopause for 6 years. Doctor started me on Testosterone pellets 6 years ago. They worked great it should also be noted I have Hashimotos. For years I felt normal. This past year I have felt miserable anxiety through the roof. Doctor said it must be my antidepressants so she switched my meds but still miserable. I finally talked her into doing my labs. She was doing them once a year. I got labs. She said they were normal but I could probably use estrogen. Mind you my testosterone was at 343 and estrogen was at 50 and progesterone was at .2 she still said everything was good. I have not been good anxiety all year can’t drive, be in social situations and just overall restless also these weeks where I was so depressed. I got sick and had to go to a different doctor and told her everything. She said my labs were not good. My testosterone was too high. So she did bloodwork again mind you my other doctor placed testosterone and estrogen pellets a few weeks after my labs showed high testosterone. New doctor got bloodwork done and back and testosterone was at 373 and free t was at 72. My RBC count was very high. She has since put me on Dim and done therapeutic phlebotomy. She said I have to let my pellets dissolve. It’s just really hard because I still feel anxious and tired and all these feelings. Has anyone else experienced this and could give support or just reassurance that I’m gonna get better? It gets hard to have hope and trust in the process when I feel like I was trusting for so long and I messed up doing that. Sorry so long!

I also tried pellets and had the worst experience. Never had mental issues before and the morning after I had them placed I had the worst heart palpitations and feelings of being off. Went to the ER. I am a rapid metabolizer so all the T hit my system and it was terrible. Had anxiety for nearly a year until I finally got hormone answers. I’m so sorry you are experiencing this. Have you tried Inositol? It helped and I think you can take it with anxiety meds. Also Oxytocin is really calming. Please research both for yourself. I really hope you feel better soon. Anxiety is a vicious cycle.
New Here and Struggling a Bit
Hello. I'll be 52 in a couple of weeks. I'm still considered perimenopausal, but I haven't had a cycle in four months. I've skipped up to three months at a time before, so we'll see if it has really stopped. I'm really struggling with digestive issues and hair loss (both for a long time due to hypothyroidism and lack of a gallbladder for 28 years. Those symptoms are getting worse with age. My doctor put me on estradiol patches three months ago. They've really helped with the itchy ears, hot flashes, and anxiety. My libido has gone downhill in the last year. I'm wondering if I need more HRT, but my doctor isn't familiar with testosterone replacement, which I'm only assuming is what I need. I am on progestin-only birth control pills. I've also had my FSH tested (in August) and it is 76.3. My doctor thinks I'm actually through menopause, but I haven't had one year without a cycle yet. I'm hoping to find others in a similar situation and advice on this stage of life.

Hi Hollie, Your post on not having a gallbladder reminded me of a book I read called Dirty Genes. It’s very GI centric and super informative. It might be worth it for you. I also had my gallbladder taken out and have struggled with hormones and GI issues for a while. The book linked everything together for me.
My story
I am grateful for the opportunity to share my peri menopause story. It started back in February of this year. If you don't think menopause psychosis isn't real, it is. It hit me hard, I spent 3 nights in the mental hospital on 3 different occasions, total black out. Drs would not do blood work, said I was schizophrenic. I had never had any mental health problems up until the age of 48 when peri hit me. It took 4 Drs and many months of anxiety, tremors and heart ache before finding a Dr that would do blood work and listen to me. I am now on progesterone and estrogen, and am healed. Ladies, fight for yourself. If anyone out there has any questions or needs to vent, feel free to reach out, we all needs friends right now that are going through what we are. Much love to you all.

Omg that’s terrible. So happy you are better
Hi, new here!
Hello everyone, Im 42yrs old. 2.5 years post op from having both ovaries removed (had a partial back in 2014). No one schooled me on Menopause and my mother died last year in Sept. It's been quite a journey finding actual doctors that will listen to me and getting on bhrt for myself. I currently take E & P..... and still trying to get T. The last doctor prescribed me 200mg T every 30 days... (talk about growing a mustache and my hair falling out at the same time.... It's been 2 whole months since that last injection. My state is slow & backwards... I've seen so many doctors and nurses its crazy... I've started working out and going to the gym to get fit, hoping that will help with sleep... I still only get 2-4hrs im taking a lot of supplements morning & night.... I see my PCP this Friday...I'd love to go to a real hormone doctor, but im income based and don't make enough to pay those monthly prices... My question to everyone is who do you see that helps you with your hormones?

Hi, I’m so sorry to hear about your experience and the loss of your mother. My heart goes out to you. I tried testosterone a few months ago and it was a huge dose also. I felt great for a few days and then hit the bottom very hard for a few weeks. I just for all my labs done with Elevate MD. That’s the company that’s hosting this chat and all the lovely post on social about us Peri and Mena girls not being crazy. My follow up is mid month so I can say much on treatment yet but that have been very fast and professional so far. Wishing you all the best in your journey. I hope it gets easier.

Mom of 3, 18, 16 and 9. That last one threw my hormones out of wack, been struggling ever since. PCP and ObGYn never once checked hormone imbalance.
