Why
It is time to address the familial loyalty to the mis-wired false belief that taking care of myself is the same as neglect. That neglect is love, and self-care is deprivation. That privation is normal. Addressing the unnecessary price of adult responsibilities placed upon a child. Goal: To embrace and reconcile with the neglected and fearful facet of myself. Because the physical cost to continuing to function in the same way, of sabotaging every pound of weight loss, is unsustainable.

Why Do I Get Good Ketones Even With High Blood Sugars While Fasting?
I love your story about Patient D. My story is similar, except I can easily get into a Dr. Boz ratio of 20 in well less than 3 weeks of water fasting and stay there consistently (as long as I continue fasting), even while my blood sugars are mostly still in the 120 - 150 range at that point in fasting. I am definitely a diabetic (not sure if I am Type 1 or Type 2 - never officially diagnosed), but have done many extended fasts (76 days was my longest) to reverse it time and again and to clean out some pretty serious mercury poisoning I experienced. But with one pregnancy after another (10 full pregnancies), my midwives did not want me fasting at all and the weight and blood sugar issues came back, even while eating low carb (I wasn't really getting in the high fat). Then during a surgery, doctors gave me steroids (which were counter-indicated with my history), and my sugars have been horrible since, despite fasting. I can still get into the DBR of 20 and see significant health improvement by fasting, but I joined this course to see if you can help me learn how to achieve this DBR to heal my mitochondria while eating. But just wondering if you can explain to me why I can still get a good DBR even with high blood sugar numbers? Thanks. (Sorry for such a long question, but I figured the extra information might be important to help you explain what might be going on with me.)

Tell if I am understanding you correctly: To have a Dr Boz ratio of 20 at a blood glucose of 150, your ketones would be 7.5. Wirh a blood glucose of 200, your ketones would be 10 to get a Dr Boz ratio of 20. My Keto Mojo meter measures only up to 8.0mmol/L ketones. For all higher ketones it registers "Hi". Your body is super at making ketones, @Melody Windsor !! And good question you ask!
Why
I am on this meaningful metabolism journey to forestall dementia and improve my brain health. I want to maintain my mobility so I remain independent. Mental sharpness and clarity as well as physical good health are critical in my relationships with friends and loved ones. Nurturing connection is paramount; it is the most important frontier. For those connections, I want to be mentally and physically available.

@Deborah Sager đź’™ I only hope I remember and am encouraged by my "Why".
Why?
I am still struggling with writing my "Why". When I try to make it perfect, nothing comes out. Stay tuned for my perfect imperfection...or something like that.

@Deborah Sager Thank you for making room. I work (four letter word, I know) on more action, less perfection. Besides my "Why" can be modified over time, I believe.

@Robert Gagnon Because I’m so easily influenced, I am trying not to read many “whys” before I offer mine. My why will likely be “selfish” if it’s real, I suspect..
