Vegan greetings from Germany
Hello, my name is Oliver and I’m from Germany. I haven’t been officially diagnosed with ADHD, but my behavior and the way I approach things strongly suggest that I’m at least partially affected by it. I’m a nutrition coach focused on a fully plant based diet, I’ve been vegan myself for eight years, and I work as a coach. My biggest challenge is that I have an incredible number of ideas, but I tend to jump from one idea to the next and struggle to stay focused on one thing. Until about eight years ago, I lived a very dopamine driven life, if I can put it that way. Unfortunately, I satisfied that need through very unhealthy habits, alcohol, cannabis, staying up all night playing PlayStation, or binge watching Netflix. You probably know exactly what I mean. By now, it’s clear to me that this had a lot to do with my ADHD. Over the past eight years, I’m 48 now, I’ve learned how to regulate my dopamine in different ways. Through strength training or long distance running for example, I’ve completed three marathons so far. Cacao rituals and meditation have also become an important part of my life, rituals I love to take part in and that I now also facilitate myself. I also get a lot of joy from Skool, where I currently run two communities, one focused on vegan living and one focused on cacao rituals. For many years I didn’t know why this was the case. By now I understand that it’s very likely related to the way my brain works. I’ve also realized that this doesn’t have to be a disadvantage, it can actually be a strength, but only if you know how to work with it. I hope I can contribute a few impulses here and of course also gain some valuable insights myself. Best regards from Germany, Oliver
