Chapter 2 made me pause and reflect on how often I've manipulated my team by using incentives like a fancy lunch as motivation to hit milestones when we've had to deal with multiple priorities 😃. Sinek doesn’t say these tactics are bad, but he makes it clear they only drive short-term results. So starting today I chose to inspire rather than manipulate!

I initially questioned Simon’s adoration for Apple because I am an Apple fan and to be honest I believe I just followed the cult. Most of my friends used Apple when I moved to the US. So I joined them when I could afford it. But what made me stay was how easy it was to move seamlessly from my phone to my laptop and how everything was synchronized. However, as I thought much more deeply, when I got to page 43, I realized that apple has kept to its original why over the years. They wanted to create an OS that would give an individual sitting at home or walking down the streets the same advantage as a company. I realized that apple made their cameras especially for videos so great that people do not really need get fancy cameras like they used to. Anyone can use their iPhone as a camera and a phone as well as for other purposes. Thats my personal why for apple. Beyond thinking of the why for the companies, services and products I create, I have started thinking of the why for the services and products I consume.
