Season finished!
Here in Ireland, the Gaelic football season starts in February, and if you're still playing football in October, it means you're having a really great year. Unfortunately, our season finished at the weekend. We were beaten in the quarter-finals of our big championship. And there's now some downtime before winter training starts in the gym in November. Big positive was that our young goalkeeper who was playing in his first season with us had a great performance Friday night, and he's one to watch for the future. Any other Gaelic goalkeepers out there?

Are you 'Above the Line or 'Below the Line'?
Hey @Ray Newland I hope you won't mind me posting this little video. I thought I would share it because it's so valuable at our Gaelic Football Club. This is our mantra: 1. We want to live 'Above the Line' as much as possible. 2. We don't blame the ref, we don't blame our fellow players, we take full responsibility for all of our actions. (at least we TRY to do these things ;0 ) 3. We try to live in a state of curiosity and learning This video sums it up beautifully. Let me know what you think. We believe in it so passionately that we even called our club coffee shop "Above the Line Coffee." ! https://youtu.be/fLqzYDZAqCI?si=dcpvCzkDSH-xAOwM

THANK YOU RILEY
Just a quick shout out to @Riley Reynolds ... We yet again had some spammers in the group - And it is great now to see members of the team like Riley, telling these spammers straight - 'This community is NOT the place!!!' As most know, we do not want this community to become toxic with spammers like X or Facebook... And if we police this together - We will ban these spammers in a heartbeat and keep our community, clean, positive, safe and keyboard and spammer warrior free! Thanks for heads up Riley - Spammer banned! IMPORTANT: Remember, if anyone private is Dm-ing you, they are most probably a spammer - if this happens, let me know and we will ban them! This community is an amazing tool for keepers and parents - lets keep it this way! Ray
THANK YOU RILEY

Limiting beliefs
@Ray Newland you've most likely covered this off in this group before my time and I just wanted to throw it up here as a reminder to everyone. I'm heavily involved in football coaching, and we consistently see 'limiting beliefs' as one of the biggest reasons why keepers and other players don't reach their potential. Limiting beliefs are beliefs or decisions I've made about myself which stop me from reaching the levels that I want to get to. For example: 'I want to be a top-class goalkeeper, but how could I possibly be a top-class goalkeeper when none of my family were involved in goalkeeping before? I haven't got the experience. Nobody that I know has ever been involved in goalkeeping in my life before this. - LIMITING BELIEF 'I want to be a top-class goalkeeper, but I don't have the physique or the agility to get me where I want to go' - LIMITING BELIEF 'I want to be a top-class goalkeeper, but my family and my coaches are not well connected enough to get me into the right development programmes' - LIMITING BELIEF See what I mean? The trick to overcoming a limiting belief or a limiting decision is to have a think about 'what else I could believe' or 'what else I could decide' that will lead me down a different path to a different, better result. Anybody got any other examples of limiting beliefs?

@Thomas Vermeulen thank you
The great question...!
What is going on with goalkeeping at MUTD? at the moment. This is the question that is occupying so many conversations in the sporting world at the moment. Would love to hear what you guys think is at the heart of the problem with goalkeeping at United...

@Emily Hart yes, it is a little sad. It says a lot for the recruitment process. It's a pity it had to come to this.
