Let's bring this community alive again!
Alsalamu Alaykom everyone, nshalla you're all well. I'm sorry I haven't been active in this community for a while but I'm going to start rebooting things with you guys in the coming weeks. To start things off, I've spoken to a lot of you about what you need to work on to achieve your goals in Arabic. Two main things people kept saying: **reading and vocabulary.** So I made an app to help you read WITHOUT tashkeel. Since most Arabic text doesn't have it and makes it tough to read, that can also block you from building your vocabulary. The app will have word-level mistake correction and eventually letter-level correction to improve your pronunciation and make sure you're reading every haraka correctly. It will feature 3 main pages: - Reading: curated content you can practice on - Vocabulary: your bookmarked words to refer back to - Leaderboards: your streak and avg. score compared to others on the app so we can motivate each other to get better Looking forward to hear your thoughts. If you want to try it let me know, give a ๐Ÿ‘ in the comments :)

Launch of Nahw.ai ๐Ÿš€
Salam everyone, hope you're all well! I know the group hasn't been as active as before but I'm making sure that we don't keep it as such. I've finally launched the Arabic exercise tool at https://nahw.ai, try it out! Some of you have tried out a previous version, and through your feedback I was able to improve it in the last few days, so see your suggestions implemented in the demo video :) Thanks a lot for your help ๐Ÿ™ This tool can help with: - nahw practice: add harakat on words by clicking on the letters, hover over the question mark and see the correct tashkil, ask the AI to explain why a word gets a case-ending if you still don't understand it - reading practice: read simple and short sentences, practice with or without tashkil, and hear a spoken version of the sentence in a native Arab voice - speech & pronunciation: you can keep listening to the sentence and repeat after it to improve your pronunciation and speech - build vocabulary: hover over any word and get the English translation, more languages coming soon I hope you enjoy it! Would love to hear your feedback in the comments and any suggestions for other Arabic exercises you wish to see but haven't found online. My plan is to make a suite of Arabic exercises that are meaningful and focus on improving specific functions of your Arabic language. Thanks everyone! โœŒ๏ธ P.S. the website is not optimized for mobile, advised to use only on desktop for now :)

Good afternoon
ู…ุฑุญุจุง ๐Ÿ‘‹๐ŸผุŒ my name is Oscar I'm Colombian. My friend is from Jordan I would like to talk with him in arabic and I already know two languages and wanted to challenge myself. I chose Arabic because it's a beautiful language and it would be a benefit for me to learn it for the future. I already started on my own but I found this community on this app and I liked the layout of it. My question. Is it better to learn MSA first, before focusing on a dialect?

Personally - in my opinion as a learner myself - I think since you have a Jordanian friend, you could start with the Jordanian dialect (essentially the Levantine dialect) first. Dialects help you connect more personally, engage with the culture and feel closer to people because it's something unique and special to them. From my understanding, people study MSA if they really want to get into academic, religious fields or to be able to study Arabic in depth as a language. It's not spoken as a conversational language.
Levantine (Syrian) verbs and grammar sharing
Hi all, I've been working on this for a while now. So I've been learning the Syrian dialect now and have been able to progress quite a bit. So I came up with this idea to help myself and help others, where I focus on a verb, write a few sentences in the different grammar of the verb and get my Syrian friend to help read them. I will also be sharing the grammar I've learnt. I have attached the videos in this post. It will be a post actually, with each slide being one page, but for your convenience I combined them. I plan to eventually open an Instagram page to share these - through the perspective of someone learning the dialect, and of course all my content will be vetted through thoroughly. To those who are learning the Lebanese/Syrian dialect, do let me know if this format is helpful for you.

Update on the Learn Arabic app
Salam everyone, I've made a lot of progress on this Arabic app and I made you this video to see what it's all about. I've made it easier to use and I'm using AI to generate random sentences at scale with translations to learn vocabulary simultaneously. Reason I'm doing this is: - many of you have enjoyed learning using the tashkil exercise (adding harakat to a sentence) - There's a scarcity of tools for learning Arabic, and the ones that exist are bad Would love to hear your suggestions for features, your thoughts in general, and if you have any questions. Please do add them in the comments to help make this app better and better so we can bring it together to more people. โœŠ
