Decide.Design.Execute (Goal Planning and Execution)
@Bruno Militz and I had a fantastic call last Friday and one of the topics that came up was in relation to vision, intention, and execution of goals. (Find his group here: Personal Growth School --he has a goal setting workshop coming up and his energy is solid--what a delight it was to talk to him! Absolutely love his energy. :) ) Additionally @Wesley Penner also has a group associated with planning/executing Executive Skill Journey -you've seen some of his helpful comments/feedback on here!:) Amongst other things, we talked about the different type of things that contribute to people falling short on their goals and getting discouraged and the types of things that build momentum and keep us focused. I'm kind of curious about everyone's process to goal execution. What do you do? What's your approach? I typically do a vision board--something that reminds me of the broader things/values that i want to focus on and embody. I want to focus on who I want to become/nurture as a person and take action that coincides with that. (e.g. the word connection or a picture of friends may be on the board). In addition to this, I may then break it down and have some action steps that's separate from the vision board (e.g. set up a date with a friend). I don't always put timelines on things and I also don't make it so stringent that if I somehow miss the mark it becomes discouraging. It's too easy to become discouraged. Below are some approaches that some people take (chat GPT did help with the pretty structuring and some of the info!) 1๏ธโƒฃ Outcome Based Goals Focus is on the end result.Example: โ€œI want to lose 10 poundsโ€ or โ€œI want to finish my degree.โ€ โœ”๏ธ Good for direction and clarity โš ๏ธ Can feel overwhelming if not broken down; people often fail these without a strong why and without a strong process

Spotlight on @Steve Webb this week! Check out his community here: 30daychallengers (a community that aims to help with personal improvement in different domains of life through 30 day challenges!) This has EASILY become one of my favorite spaces to be in skool. The community is solid and encouraging, the challenges are fun/engaging and also meaningful! Opportunities for growth are there and ready for the taking! And Steve is not so bad himself. Jk, he's great! :)

This is an awesome concept @Steve Webb! Just joined your group. I remember @Georgiana D telling me about it and I thought it was a great concept. Would love to collaborate with you at some point in the future, feel like it would be awesome to: 1. Help more people "Rise" and get better 2. Increase engagement and participation in the challenges and both our communities 3. Our missions align very much so and you provide a real practice way we can all "RiseUp Together" From previous experience, I really believe my community is just going to continue to get bigger and bigger. I had the gold star and all that, will be back very soon, reason it went away is because I just got off skool, I was not approaching it with the right mindset. Feel like collaborations like these are awesome and really focus on the "community" element itself. Looking forward to connecting further

@Steve Webb For sure, I just came out of and graduated college in a bit of a weird way. I pretty much was in an honors program free thing for a 5th year but I actually took a leave for my mental health but I was already graduated (donโ€™t even know how to explain lol) So I guess I was kind of in an all or nothing thinking mindset regarding skool and income. I was in a depression, yet still doing very well on skool because I am so competitive and will push myself to unhealthy breaking points, and I was not completely aligned with my mission. Now, I am working two other jobs (part-time each) and this Skool stuff is something I more so see myself doing for my lifetime. Itโ€™s the part of me keeping the dreamer and inner kid alive, which I believe is so important. Itโ€™s the part of me consistently growing and itโ€™s genuinely solely about providing value to others right now. Thatโ€™s another reason why I think your challenges would be great and Iโ€™m pretty confident Iโ€™ll continue to have a lot of people in my group. I donโ€™t care about income from skool, would be nice if it comes naturally, but not my priority whatsoever. So more so working on it from a place of purely love and abundance and taking things much more slowly and working with people rather than building on my own.
Awe and Wonder
๐ŸŒฟThe Benefits of Wonder and Awe for Your Well Being Last night it was snowing and before getting into my car to drive home, I just looked up. The light was hitting the snow just perfectly and it felt like I was in a sparkling snowglobe...and there was this small moment of joy and warmth. The cold didn't hit in the same way, it felt more energizing than deathly feeling. One look up and the moment shifted from my inner dialogue saying "ugh...i hate the cold so much to "wow, it sure is beautiful out here. How cool that I get to experience this". A moment of awe and noticing the beauty in something shifted the inner experience. Awe and wonder-the moments that make your brain go "Wow" and your nervous system soften. It brings on a sense of joy and gratitude. Psychologically, wonder and awe acts like a reset button. Studies show that a sense of awe can and do reduce stress markers, lower inflammation and support healthier cell functioning. When you experience awe your body releases chemicals that calm the threat system and activate the part of the nervous system that restores and repairs. Wonder has a sense of curiosity attached to it and awe also expands your sense of time and increases feelings of meaning which boosts overall emotional well-being. Awe also shifts your perspective. It shrinks the inner critic and enlarges the sense of connection with a bigger world. So how do we engage with it more often? You do not need a mountaintop (though, if you have one, go!). You need intentional attention. Here are some strategies: โœจ Seek micro wonder. Tiny pieces of beauty count. The pattern on a leaf. A song that hits your chest. A cloud in the sky :) A snowflake up close. The up-close look in someone's eyes (make sure they're okay with it! ha) โœจ Slow your pace. The nervous system needs a little margin to take in what is around you. Take a few grounding breaths and look around. One of my favorite books has the phrase "look up" in it--pointing to the idea of looking outside of selves.

Thanks for the share. Curious what you think in regards to the balance between routine and then having novelty, newness and wonder?
