I find it easier to share things on here than I do with my closest friends and loved ones. The truth is, despite what you might see on social media, I’m struggling. I’m tired of pretending everything’s okay. I’m exhausted, and if I’m honest, I’ve lost the motivation to even help myself. But today is a new day. Today is the day I rein in that black dog, and start to show up for myself again. I thought I had all the tools I needed to get through my darkest moments, but it turns out I didn’t. Yesterday, I reached out for help. This morning, for the first time in over a month, I’m out on an early morning dog walk. That’s where it starts. Small steps. One foot in front of the other. I’ve signed up for the Sheffield 10K at the end of September, so that’s my short-term goal. Nine weeks. One finish line. But today isn’t about running. Today starts with a walk.
