SHRM VS APHR
Hoping to take an HR designation course just to have. Long term goal would be a Director of Employee Experience for an insurance company or VP of Account Management - Employee Benefits. CEBS, PMP and then something HR related. CPHR is very popular here but it's expensive and most people I've talked to said it hasn't been useful/ only got it years later when it was employer paid. Would love your thoughts on any of these HR certifications. Thanks !

LinkedIn Headline
Would love to revamp my LinkedIn Headline but not sure where to start. I love what I have but feel it's too long and I'd love for it to attract more recruiters. Would love a few revision suggestions if possible as I am targeting an Account Manager Position at a Benefits Consulting Firm. First Coffee Chat: Key Takeaways & Topics of Discussion
On Friday we hosted our first coffee chat. I wanted to thank Arjun and Jonathan for attending our first coffee chat! I believe the first session went well, and that everyone took a lot away from it. We may make some changes to these sessions moving forward, but we'll A/B test different sessions and see what works best. Below is a recap of our discussion, key takeaways, and next steps: 1. Networking is a great job search tool – Coffee chats and informational interviews build connections, but relationships take time. Use ADPList.org and LinkedIn strategically. 2. Quality over quantity in applications – A highly targeted approach (25+ companies, tailored applications) is more effective than mass applying. Invest time in crafting standout applications. Why? Because in every pool of applicants, there will be a handful that go above and beyond to stand out. 3. Focus on your strengths – If you’re failing technical assessments, prioritize prep. If you’re not landing interviews, focus on networking. Align your search strategy with your skills. 4. Industry transitions require a strategic plan – Moving from oil & gas to renewables? Your best bet is an internal transfer within a company that operates in both industries or locations. 5. Overcome job search anxiety – Most people want to help! Send messages, follow up, and track productivity to stay accountable and build momentum. Don't expect results to happen instantly. Most of the time, you still need to put in the effort. 6. Stay consistent and adapt – Job searching is a marathon, not a sprint. The average job search takes 9-12 months—stay persistent and refine your approach along the way. You can cut time off of your job search using many different tactics. I hope this all helps! See you on Monday. --- P.S. The upcoming Q&A session on Monday at 6 PM MDT will be recorded.

Preparing For Interviews (Read This If You're Nervous)
I have a third (and potentially final round) interview with a General Partner at Antler in 12 minutes, and I’ll be honest—Even I get feeling slightly nervous. Even as a career coach who has prepped hundreds of candidates for high-stakes interviews, and completed 100's of interviews myself, I’m not immune to the pre-interview jitters. It's natural, and it happens to everyone because you understand what the opportunity means to you, and you want it to work out in your favor as it could change your life. So, with that being said... how do you calm down when nerves start creeping in? Here’s what I remind myself (and my clients) before any big interview: 1) Breathe & Reset: Take slow, deep breaths. Inhale for four seconds, hold for four, exhale for four. This keeps your nervous system in check. Alternatively, you can shut your eyes, and "meditate." 2) Reframe the Interview: Instead of thinking of it as an evaluation, see it as a conversation. 3) Trust Your Preparation: You’ve done the work. Even if you don’t have the “perfect” answer for every question, your experience and thought process will shine through. And most importantly, detach yourself from the outcome. One interview doesn’t define your worth. Whether it goes amazingly or not, every interview is a learning experience that moves you forward. Interviews aren’t just about answering questions; they’re about showing up as your best, most confident self. If you’re feeling nervous before an interview, take a breath, reframe your mindset, and walk in ready to own the conversation. What are your go-to tips for calming interview nerves? Drop them in the comments! 👇

Talk about your strengths . I didn't go into my interview pretending to know it all. I spoke about real life experiences that we could both relate to and that led to organic conversations . Go on the company website if they have a blog or have been recently given a reward of some type commend them on it and use that as a talking point
