Doing Podcast Interviews? Watch this video
I made this for @Lee Carlson after one of our Premium Author Lab coaching calls ... but I know that there are a lot of authors doing podcast interviews who aren't getting much momentum from them so this will help! Happy long weekend!

This is super helpful, Julie! I love the tip to use the podcast interviews to generate more content. Seems like low hanging fruit for busy authors.
Bay Area Authors Dinner 😋
Hey, y'all! I'm going to be putting together a little Bay Area Authors dinner to hangout with fellow Silicon Valley authors. Who do you know in my San Francisco / Santa Cruz / San Jose area that you think I should invite to join us?? :)

How do you get paid for doing author visits at schools?
Hi! I am in the process of starting to do author visits at elementary schools. I will be asking the admin to send out a preorder form for my book. But I was wondering how do you transition into getting paid for author visits? I will be working on a quality and interactive presentation. My children's books are about emotional healing, emotional parenting and even the inner child so I have a lot I would like to talk about. I am also very open to speaking to both students and their parents. One school said they are interested in doing an assembly for parents and students right after school.

Hi Michael, I would plainly ask if they have a budget to bring you in as a speaker. In public schools, if the PTA is organizing, they tend to have a smaller budget ($500). Work the speaking engagement along with the book order. Some schools ask parents to buy the books when an author is visiting, so you won't get all the kids with books. I agree with Kate, SEL coordinators, and school counselors will open doors for your books. Good luck!
What’s your #1 author goal for 2026?
New year, fresh momentum. 🎉Let’s set the tone for 2026 together. What’s the one thing you want to accomplish in your author journey this year? It could be big or small: Finish your first draft, publish your book, start (or grow) your email list, get more reviews, sell more books, etc. Drop your goal in the comments — and if you know it, share your next step too (even if it’s a small one). Chances are, someone here has the same goal… and we can all help each other stay on track this year. 🤝📚

@Lloyd A Vermont Sr For my first book, I shared snippets in my newsletter for a few months prior to the book launch, so I didn't need to write additional content, simply an introduction for the snippet (which many times it also came from book content). It was an effective way to build appetite for the book! I did it bi-weekly at the time. Now, I have a monthly newsletter.
