Women in Wealth Management $500 Scholarship Opportunity
Hello everyone! I am happy to share the 2025 Sage Trading Collective Scholarship Application is officially OPEN! Women are still underrepresented in wealth management — especially in roles that require advanced credentials like FINRA licenses, the CFP®, and the CFA®. The costs of exam prep, coursework, and licensing can create real barriers to entry and advancement. At Sage Trading Collective, I'm committed to changing that. The 2025 scholarship for $500 supports women who are continuing their education in financial services, helping remove financial barriers and expanding representation across the industry. If you know a woman who is building a career in wealth management, please share this with her. Applications are now open through 12/31/2025 and I'm excited to support the next generation of women shaping our industry. Learn more and apply today at https://www.sagetradingcollective.com/scholarship

Transition to a back office trade desk
Our firm is currently set up with 3 person advisor teams - Advisor, Associate Advisor and Operations associate. We are looking at moving to more of a front office (client facing) and back office (trading desk and account paperwork) operational structure. We use Redtail, Schwab and are currently migrating from Morningstar to Black Diamond. I am wondering if you have recently transitioned your operations in this way? I am also wondering if your firm uses Redtail, how do you assign activities to a trade desk or a back office where there are multiple people who would be working off of one queue. We currently only see functionality in Redtail to create activities and assign individual people (not a group). I appreciate any suggestions you may have.

Hi @Kate Murphy - I have worked back office trading for 2 RIA firms, one used Salesforce CRM and Orion Eclipse (Schwab/Apex) and one used Monday CRM and Orion Eclipse (Schwab/Fidelity). The most efficient part of the workflow was letting the traders be the first to get the request. We have a pulse on whether cash needs to be raised or if it is earmarked for an RMD, distribution or DCA. That step minimizes trade errors or unnecessary trades. We would then send the ticket to the CSA/Advisor with "the trades are in place today, they will settle tomorrow" giving the CSA an idea of when they can process the request or we would say, "there is enough cash in the account, no trades needed" something like that. I'm happy to do a call if you want to talk in more detail! [email protected] or https://oncehub.com/PAGE-56596BD9C1
Eclipse via Orion
Hi. I’d love to hear how your firms are using Eclipse inside Orion for day-to-day trading and portfolio management. Specifically: - How do you exclude specific assets from the models? - How do you handle dollar-cost averaging (DCA) for large deposits? - Any workflows or tips you’ve found helpful for traring on this platform? Custodians: RJ and Schwab We’re refining our trading workflows and I’d appreciate any real-world insights on what’s working well for others.

Hi @Lauren Bernal I have worked with Eclipse for about two years and have experience with excluding assets both for legacy taxable positions and for values based exclusions. Are you wanting to exclude the security and keep it in the model or rebalance around/outside the model? For DCAs, there are a few different options there as well. Eclipse does not have the ability (yet) to use a money market for DCAs, only cash. You can use the set aside setting either for DCAs or customize the setting to lower the set aside amount each DCA interval from the cash you are investing. I am happy to walk through any items with you in a screen share! [email protected] or https://oncehub.com/PAGE-56596BD9C1

Hi everyone! My name is Laura Harrison and I am a former Financial Advisor and current trader. I have worked for a few RIAs and have traded on multiple platforms like Orion Eclipse/Astro, GS/Folio, Fidelity/Wealthscape, Schwab iRebal, and am currently learning Tamarac. I saw a need in the market for p/t outsourced trading support so I founded the RIA firm, Sage Trading Collective this year. I am looking forward to learning from you all and hopefully I can help with trading questions!
