Warm and Sad Goodbye
Hey everyone, I just wanted to say a proper goodbye before the group turns paid. Being part of a community that shares my love for perfumes has been amazing, even though my collection is still small—something I hope to grow over time. Reading and learning about perfumes with all of you has been a completely different and wonderful experience. It’s been great to discover what’s new, share opinions, and just enjoy the world of fragrances together. Unfortunately, with the group moving to a paid subscription and my situation here in Egypt, I won’t be able to continue as a member. It’s a shame because I truly enjoyed being part of this community. Currently, I have a couple of perfumes from my wishlist, and I’ll keep working toward completing my main collection: - Armani Code Parfum - Dior Homme Parfum - Bleu De Chanel Parfum - Brazilian Tobacco (owned) - Top Notch (just gifted by my fiancée ❤️) I’ll still be active on LinkedIn, Instagram, and I have a Fragrantica account as well—so if anyone wants to connect, I’m always open to it! Thank you all for the great conversations and inspiration. I hope our paths cross again in the future!

This is not Personal!!! Nor am I thinking of anyone in Particular, This is a Culmination of things occuring in the Brotherhood that I would like to adress and maybe just some food for thought!!!
I am not going to give a doctoral thesis, but I would like to point out a few things, especially for some of the newer brothers here in the group. I know I keep saying certain articles and videos are advertisements, and to me, that's all they are. Whether it comes from a magazine or Gentscents, which I adore, it is still just advertising to me, as these writers and YouTube influencers have created a business out of fragrance. Even our own Antonio does not post his YouTube videos on his own group, which he created. Like Most of us here, we are Fragrance lovers who love the art of Perfumery. I started my Journey with Dupes or Clones, as we put it, because I did not have the funds to jump in immediately. But my journey started in my youth and in college, as I always had 1 or 2 of the top designer fragrances that worked for me. The reason I joined this brotherhood was the opportunity to interact with brothers and to learn from them. With like-minded people who share a love of this hobby. That being said, I will always ask what the performance is, etc., etc., because there is a bond that develops and a mutual trust, as now I am getting advice from someone whom I personally interact with on almost a daily basis. I get a real, live accounting, sometimes varying, accounting of what and how the fragrance performs with a real, live person who I interact with and is giving me thier real, live opinions!!! We all have access to magazine articles, YouTube, Reddit, TikTok, Magazines, Articles, books, etc. If I wanted info from that, I would be able to pull it up myself. I could interact with total strangers and possibly Schills in the comment sections!!! No, I joined this to get and compare real-life notes with brothers whom I trust, not strangers or salespeople, but brothers who share the same passion and who may have had a better or worse experience with said fragrances, so I can compare notes and learn!!! Anyway, just some food for thought, as it seems like we are letting outside influences take up a large portion of the group. I do not care what Mr Dua has to say or Mr Chaos fragrance!!! or even Mr Gent Scents!!! I can find all that out on myself. I dont care what the GQ or Vogue writers have to say or what brand they are pushing for more Ads, as I can read that on my own!!!

Always love your honest opinions and i agree!
Sick of AI
Lately is see people posting AI generated videos on YouTube, I see people posting essentially AI generated reviews on the SOTD here or clearly posting things plagiarized or telling them to blend outrageous combinations together. I don’t care about what AI or ChatGPT tells you to do. Put your nose to the frags and tell me what YOU think. Learn about the frag organically. Giving a dissertation that I have already read elsewhere tells me that you learned nothing from the frag. You cheapen the learning process and enjoyment. You don’t need a computer to tell you what you should like nor should you need a computer to explain to us what you supposedly think or know.

@Erick Tai agree to this one. AI is a tool and now is very indispensable if you want to grow your business. Using ai is so much more cost effective than hiring graphic artists, videographers, content creators, researcher, analysts etc. and it does the job better too leading to a much better efficiency. Even my investment banker has said to me that nowadays if you don’t use ai you’ll get left behind. That was after i told her that using ai is like cheating and there are numerous consequences like loss of job opportunities for employees etc. but after using ai myself, you’ll really get left behind in the business world if you don’t because time and efficiency is of utmost importance. You can liken it to when the automobile replaced the horse. At first the fear was identical. Before, horses are reliable and cars break down or you cant trust a machine on bad roads. Now, ai hallucinates or only lazy people use ai. Early adopters looked foolish until they didnt. Cars improved and got cheaper. What got replaced wasnt the worker but the inefficiency. People who lost were those who said the old way is good enough. The winners were drivers, mechanics, fleet owners, manufacturers, etc. Horse riders argued: “Anyone can drive a car. It cheapens real skill. True horsemanship takes years.” And they were right but still irrelevant. The market rewarded output, not romanticism. Back then people who learned to drive went farther, faster. People who insisted on riding fell behind economically. Now people who learn to command AI amplify themselves and people who insist on pure manual work cap their reach. In hindsight, we don’t call horse loyalists principled. We call them obsolete not because they were stupid but because they confused identity with method. The same thing is happening now.
