šŸ‘‰ How often do you push through fatigue instead of listening to it?
Energy isn’t just about motivation — it’s about recovery capacity. Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is: āœ” Take a walk instead of a hard workout āœ” Go to bed earlier āœ” Say no to one extra obligation āœ” Eat enough protein and real food Recovery is not quitting. Recovery is a strategy. This week we’ll break this down step by step šŸ’œ šŸ‘‡ Quick check-in: What’s one small recovery choice you could make today?

I’ve been sick this week and I start back to work tomorrow so I’ll be choosing rest and rehydration today and the next few days.
🧠 Day 4: What Strength Training Actually Looks Like After 40
When many women hear ā€œstrength training,ā€ they picture: āŒ heavy barbells āŒ long gym sessions āŒ feeling sore, exhausted, or intimidated That’s not what strength training after 40 needs to look like. After 40, strength training is about sending the right signal to your body, not pushing it into stress. What it can look like: āœ” lighter to moderate weights āœ” shorter sessions (15–30 minutes counts) āœ” slower, controlled movementsāœ” focusing on form, balance, and stability āœ” rest days without guilt Strength training now is about: - protecting muscle - supporting metabolism - improving insulin sensitivity - helping your body feel safe enough to let go of stored fat - And yes — home workouts absolutely count. Dumbbells, resistance bands, bodyweight, or even household items can be effective when done with intention. You don’t need to do everything. You just need to do enough, consistently. šŸ‘‡ Check-in question: What’s been your biggest hesitation with strength training — time, confidence, equipment, or knowing what to do? You’re in the right place to figure this out šŸ’œ

Mine was not knowing what to do or what working out ā€looked likeā€ outside of a gym. I’m still trying to build that knowledge base. Gyms have always made me uncomfortable. I do better with classes and someone I can follow. My sister in law started inviting me over for Fitness Fridays the other year, and for about a year, we were fairly consistent. :) If I lay out my workout clothes and put them on when I first wake up, there’s at least a slightly higher chance I’ll workout that day. Realistically I have the time I just don’t take the time and typically I don’t have the motivation.
Day 1: Hormones 101 — Why Your Body Feels Different After 40
If you’ve noticed that things feel harder — weight shifts, lower energy, sleep issues, mood changes — this is usually where hormones enter the picture. Here’s the simple version: After 40, hormone levels don’t just ā€œdrop.ā€ They fluctuate — and that fluctuation affects how your body responds to food, exercise, stress, and sleep. A few key shifts happening for many women: - Estrogen becomes less predictable (not just lower) - Progesterone often declines earlier (affecting sleep & calm) - Insulin sensitivity can change (blood sugar feels harder to manage) - Cortisol stays elevated longer under stress - Muscle-building hormones respond differently to training That’s why: • Eating less doesn’t always work • More cardio can backfire • Stress hits harder • Recovery matters more than it used to This isn’t something to fear — it’s something to understand. Over the next few days, we’ll talk about: āœ” Which hormones matter most āœ” How to support them with food and movement āœ” When labs and doctors can help āœ” What actually helps vs what makes things worse šŸ‘‡ Question for today: What feels most different for you lately — energy, sleep, weight, mood, or stress?

For me it’s Weight- I’ve gained 22 pounds just since one year ago and I’m not doing anything vastly different. I’ve outgrown my wedding ring, clothes and all my winter boots. It’s ridiculous. After weight, energy and sleep are probably the most different lately.
Hormones After 40 — What We’re Covering This Week
If your body feels different after 40—even though you’re trying to eat better, move more, and ā€œdo the right thingsā€ā€”this series is for you šŸ’œ Over the next several days, we’re doing a Hormones After 40 mini-education series. This is not about diagnosing, prescribing, or pushing extremes. It is about understanding what’s happening in your body and learning how to support it realistically. 🧠 What we’ll cover: āœ” Why what worked before doesn’t work the same now āœ” The key hormones that impact weight, energy, mood & sleep āœ” How to advocate for yourself with doctors and labs āœ” How to eat to support hormones (not diet harder) āœ” How to exercise in a way that helps instead of drains you āœ” Simple lifestyle habits that actually matter after 40 ✨ What this series is not: āŒ Medical advice āŒ A quick fix āŒ A one-size-fits-all plan My goal is to help you: • Feel informed instead of frustrated • Stop blaming yourself • Start working with your body, not against it You can follow along quietly, comment when something resonates, or ask questions as they come up. šŸ‘‡ To kick us off, comment ā€œinā€ or share one thing you’re hoping to understand better about hormones. We’re in this together šŸ’œ

Preparation. A good friend. A good cry. Prayer. Capturing my thoughts and trying to compare them to the truth of the Bible. Sleep. :o)
