The Roadmap: Why I’m resisting the urge to skip to the "Agency" module
I just finished the Step-By-Step Guide video, and I’ll be honest—my instinct was to skip ahead. With 4 years of experience in Media Buying, I usually tell myself, "I know the basics, let me see the advanced scaling strategies." But Haroon made a point in this video that stopped me in my tracks: You cannot build a skyscraper on a weak foundation. If I jump straight to the "Agency Model" (hiring others) while my own Upwork profile (the foundation) is weak, I’m just scaling a broken system. My Key Takeaways from the Roadmap: 1. The Sequence is Strategy, Not Suggestion Haroon laid it out: - Freelancing Basics: For the absolute foundation. - Smart Freelancing: The "Sniper" approach to bidding. - Agency Model: Scaling. Attempting step 3 before mastering step 2 is financial suicide. It’s like trying to run $1,000/day conversion ads to a website that takes 10 seconds to load. You’re just burning cash. 2. The Journal is my "Daily Report" In my job, I send daily reports to clients on ad spend and ROAS. The "Daily Journal" here is just a daily report to myself. If I can report to a client, I can certainly report to my own business. 3. "Smart Freelancing" is the Goal I realized I’ve been doing "Hard Freelancing" (applying to everything, hoping for luck) instead of "Smart Freelancing" (optimizing the offer). I am excited to get to that module, but I will respect the order. My "Expert" Advice: If you are experienced like me, humble yourself. Don't assume the "Basics" module is beneath you. There might be one golden nugget in there about profile settings or payment protection that saves you a headache later. My Next Move: I am starting the Freelancing Basics module now. I’m going to watch it at 1.5x speed, but I will not skip it. Question for the group: Did any of you experienced freelancers find a specific tip in the "Basics" section that you had actually missed before?

Start Here: Why "Victim Mindset" kills more dreams than bad clients (My Notes)
I just finished the Welcome & Introduction module, and I wanted to share my honest breakdown. As a Media Buyer with 4 years in the game, I look at everything through the lens of data. If an ad campaign fails, I don't blame the algorithm or the economy. I blame my creative, my hook, or my targeting. I optimize and I go again. But watching Haroon’s intro made me realize I wasn't applying that same logic to my freelancing career. I was waiting for "luck" instead of treating my career like a campaign that needs optimization. My Key Takeaways from the Welcome Module: 1. The "No Victim" Rule is Non-Negotiable Haroon was crystal clear: We cannot control the market, the government, or our starting point. We can control our inputs. Complaining is just a waste of energy that could be used to send proposals. 2. Follow the Roadmap (Don't improvise yet) I admit, I usually like to skip steps. But this community is built on a specific structure for a reason. My goal is to hit $10k/month, and the roadmap is the GPS. I’m committing to not skipping the "boring" basics. 3. Community as Leverage This isn't just a course; it's a network. The goal isn't just to learn, but to contribute. If I win, I share the tactics. If I lose, I share the lesson. My "Expert" Advice for New Members: When you watch this video, don't just nod along. Audit yourself. - Ask: "Where am I playing the victim right now?" - For me, it was my Upwork profile. I was blaming "saturation" when in reality, my profile just wasn't good enough. I fixed that today. My Next Step: I am diving into the "Freelancing Basics" module next. Question for the group: For those of you who have been here for a month or more—what is the one thing you wish you knew when you watched this intro video?

Start Here Module: Why my 4 years of experience meant nothing (until I watched this)
I just finished the Onboarding/Start Here module, and I have to be honest. It hit me hard. As a Media Buyer, I spend all day looking at data. If an ad campaign fails, I don't blame Mark Zuckerberg or "bad luck." I blame my creative, my copy, or my targeting. I fix it, and I launch again. But when it came to Upwork? I was guilty of the Victim Mindset Haroon talks about in this video. I blamed the "saturation," the "cheap competition," or the algorithm. Here are my Raw Notes & Takeaways from the Onboarding Module: 1. The "Hunter" vs. "Gatherer" Mindset Most of us in Pakistan are taught to just "wait for opportunities." This video made it clear: We eat what we kill. Waiting for an invite is a strategy for starvation. We have to hunt (send proposals) every single day. 2. Inputs > Outcomes This was my favorite part. You cannot control if a client hires you today. You can control if you send 5 high-quality proposals. Focus on the input, and the output takes care of itself. 3. The "Zero Day" Rule Consistency is the only "hack." Missing one day of journaling or bidding breaks the momentum. I am treating this community not as a social hangout, but as my office. My "Expert" Advice for this Module: Don't just watch this video while scrolling your phone or eating dinner. Treat it like a client briefing. - Pause when he asks a question. - Write down your "Why." - If you don't respect the onboarding, you won't respect the process when things get hard. My Commitment: I’ve set my "Deep Work" hours. No notifications, no excuses. Question for the veterans here: For those of you who have been in the community for a while, what was the one habit from the onboarding that changed your earnings the most?
Daily Journal [Nov 27, 2025]: Breaking the "Analysis Paralysis" & Fixing My Trust Gap
Wake up: 6:30 AM. Had my morning chai. Deep Work Block 1 (Learning): Watched the "Start Here" and "Community Rules" videos. Took detailed notes on the "No Victim Mindset." realized I have been guilty of blaming the platform (Upwork) instead of my own presentation in the past. That stops today. Deep Work Block 2 (Execution): 1. Audited my own Upwork profile. It was painful to look at my empty portfolio despite having 4 years of agency experience. 2. Action Taken: Uploaded 3 case studies from my time at Apex Digital Growth showing ROAS data. 3. Bumped my hourly rate from $15 to $30. I need to stop pricing myself like a beginner when I deliver expert results. Physical Activity: 1. Went for a 30 minute walk in the evening to clear my head. Win of the day: 1. Finally joined this community and stopped overthinking. Getting those portfolio items live feels like a huge weight off my shoulders. Loss / Improvement: 1. Spent too much time scrolling Instagram reels during my break. Need to be stricter with my phone usage tomorrow. Gratitude: 1. Alhamdulillah for the clarity this roadmap is already giving me. Plan for Tomorrow: 1. Watch the "Smart Freelancing" module. 2. Draft my first 2 proposals using the new case studies as leverage.

Hi my name is Arqam Babar. I am a Social Media Ads Strategist and Meta Certified Media Buyer. I have 4 years of experience helping brands lower their CPA and increase revenue through data-driven ad campaigns. I am learning how to translate my agency experience into a Top Rated Upwork profile and master the art of high-ticket client acquisition. My Goals for 2025: 1. Hit a consistent $3k to $5k per month on Upwork. 2. Build a "killer" portfolio that sells itself so I stop chasing clients and start attracting them. 3. Maintain a healthy balance between deep work and physical fitness. I want to get these 3 things from the community: 1. Ruthless accountability. I want to ensure I never have a "zero day." 2. Honest feedback on my proposals and profile optimization. 3. Networking with serious, like-minded freelancers who treat this as a business. Fun / I like to do these 3 things: 1. Analyzing ad data to find the "winning creative." 2. Learning about new AI tools to speed up workflows. 3. Spending quality time with family and good food. Let’s make it happen. 🚀
