POINT GUARD MENTORSHIP (90 day transformation)
Most parents think their child needs more skill work. That is important but why does that piece alone not solve what you're really seeing problems with? In reality, here’s what I see every week: - Rushed decisions - Silent leadership - Confidence dropping after mistakes - Playing fast instead of playing smart These aren’t talent issues. They’re point guard IQ and confidence issues. No one teaches young guards: - How to slow the game down - How to lead teammates - How to respond emotionally after mistakes That’s what separates floor generals from “just guards.” The rarest & most valuable guards in today's game is the FLOOR GENERAL.That gap is what I’m solving with my POINT GUARD MENTORSHIP. I want to pour into a few players personally & take on this journey. NEXT STEPS... I was never the fastest, strongest, biggest or did not have the most talent in my peer groups. But I became a college & professional point guard. I'm living proof & I've seen it with other players I trained over the years: It is possible for each player to surpass what others think you're capable of! But you're not getting there like everyone else or training like everyone else. I focus on: - Decision-making under pressure - Body language after turnovers & inside the huddle - Leadership when its not popular or teammates aren’t locked in - Confidence when the game speeds up Because skill without control doesn’t translate. Talent has nothing to do with this & I want players to understand they can control these things. Over the years, I’ve worked with guards who: - Had talent but lacked confidence - Were overlooked because they weren’t vocal - Played scared of making mistakes Once those mental & leadership pieces clicked, everything changed. That’s the foundation of what I’m opening soon. Only 10 spots! If you would like to apply for the Point Guard mentorship, please write back "POINT GUARD"

What’s Holding Back Your Game? 🤔
If you could fix just one thing in your game right now, what would it be? Confidence? Handles? Decision-making? Drop yours in the comments & let’s talk about it 👇

Handles and decision making

@Phillip Morrison I think bad handles lead to the increased anxiety, which in return leads to bad decisions when they are being pressured.
Skill development programming
Does anyone have any specific go to template they like to follow when doing skill development with a player or team? For instance, I always try to incorporate ball handling, footwork, skill focus of the day, along with shooting (off catch, off dribble, or shooting volume from game spots based on position). Just curious how other coaches within the community approach their training.

@Sean Charlisme do you mind sharing how you approach your training
Point guard skills
I don’t know if it’s just me but how do I get rid of tunnel vision and how to I find open teammates even when I have my eyes up I can’t process it quick enough.

@Shrinath Murali i think this comes down to understanding what the defense is trying to force you to do and having a strong grasp of what options/passing lanes should be available to you. For instance if a defender forces me baseline I’m immediately looking for a teammate in the corner, lifting to the wing or possibly being able to make a wrap pass to a teammate who may flash the middle. You can get there by watching film study of guards such as Steve Nash, John Stockton, or Chris Paul. All 3 are great floor generals and pass first guards. Also get on the court and practice different passing scenarios where you tend to have blind spots. Consistent practice should help speed up how you process information in the game. Last point, I would try applying these concepts in pickup games where taking risks aren’t high stakes.
Jump shot off dribble
Any recommendations for improving midrange jump shots off the dribble?

I tend to focus on 1 dribble and 2 dribble pull ups. Once a player is comfortable with that, working on different pickups off of simple combo moves, oh and understanding footwork and attack angles based on where I’m at on the floor.
