Point Guard Filmroom: HANDLING FULL COURT PRESSURE TIPS
I just uploaded a new live workshop inside the classroom. Check out the Course "Workshop Library". Here's the the notes from this workshop... HANDLING A FULL COURT PRESS 1. LIONS & LAMBS- Lions attack the middle of the court, Lambs go to the sidelines/dead spots to be killed. 2. Understand the Design of Presses: It’s designed to push you to sidelines, corners & speed you up. 3. Know Outlets: Know exactly where your passing outlets are in your press break. 4. Make the simple play or pass: Don’t over dribble if its not needed, look to pass. 5. Train & Practice against live defense. Get your reps against tough live defense. 1 on 1 or 1 on 2. “Bones over Cones” Traps & Double Teams: 1. Draw 2 defenders & know that someone on your team is open! Make the simple pass & don’t over dribble. 2. Usually wherever the 2nd defender came from that is where the open teammate is at.

Point Guard breakdown: Dribbling up court vs. pressure
I uploaded a new course series "PG BREAKDOWNS WITH COACH PHILLIP" inside the classroom tab. This course is dedicated to in-depth breakdowns of drills, videos, film as if we're sitting together going over film. I do a lot of these green screen breakdowns on social media so I thought the more in-depth version could go inside this community. I hope this helps!

College All-American off season (8wk Lifting phase for point guards)
As the basketball season for most comes to an end, its March Madness, & many are looking into the spring on how to improve their game. After my sophomore college season I took a few weeks off mentally/physically & created an 8 week strength program. This ended up being the foundation for my Summer training that led to me being a College All-American & All-Conference selection the following junior season as a point guard. I wanted to share this phase with you (April/May) & hope this will help some point guards think through how to use this time wisely. Here's the video breakdown! Let me know any questions you have about it in the comments!

POINT GUARD MENTORSHIP (90 day transformation)
Most parents think their child needs more skill work. That is important but why does that piece alone not solve what you're really seeing problems with? In reality, here’s what I see every week: - Rushed decisions - Silent leadership - Confidence dropping after mistakes - Playing fast instead of playing smart These aren’t talent issues. They’re point guard IQ and confidence issues. No one teaches young guards: - How to slow the game down - How to lead teammates - How to respond emotionally after mistakes That’s what separates floor generals from “just guards.” The rarest & most valuable guards in today's game is the FLOOR GENERAL.That gap is what I’m solving with my POINT GUARD MENTORSHIP. I want to pour into a few players personally & take on this journey. NEXT STEPS... I was never the fastest, strongest, biggest or did not have the most talent in my peer groups. But I became a college & professional point guard. I'm living proof & I've seen it with other players I trained over the years: It is possible for each player to surpass what others think you're capable of! But you're not getting there like everyone else or training like everyone else. I focus on: - Decision-making under pressure - Body language after turnovers & inside the huddle - Leadership when its not popular or teammates aren’t locked in - Confidence when the game speeds up Because skill without control doesn’t translate. Talent has nothing to do with this & I want players to understand they can control these things. Over the years, I’ve worked with guards who: - Had talent but lacked confidence - Were overlooked because they weren’t vocal - Played scared of making mistakes Once those mental & leadership pieces clicked, everything changed. That’s the foundation of what I’m opening soon. Only 10 spots! If you would like to apply for the Point Guard mentorship, please write back "POINT GUARD"
