@Ismail Mehanovic Wow, that's a great theory you have there Ismail. It's very intriguing. Can you explain again what you meant by "things" and "truth"
The movie Fight Club and what you actually want in life
"THIS IS NOT A POST ABOUT MASCULINITY" There's a scene in the movie where the protagonist is aiming a gun to a random sad person telling him that he is going to die, the protagonist asks What did you study? The person says biology but he doesnt know why, the protagonist asks, What do you really want to study? The person say he wants to be a veterinarian but its too much school, the protagonist asks him, Would you rather be death? then the protagonist steals his ID and tells him that if he isnt in the path to become a veterinarian he will kill him The movie pinpoints the topic of doing what you actually want, like asking How would you feel if your life ended today? or saying "Life is too short to fulfill peoples expectations" I think that the meaning of the movie is that Life is too short, that we are going to die and everything that we do wont matter, so do what you really like or you will die being sad and with regrest the phrase "Do what you actually want" Doest mean go party, buy tons of clothes and watch instagram reels, It means to serve your PURPOSE, Paint if you want to paint, be a poet if you want to be a poet, dress like you want to dress THE MOVIE AND THE BOOK HAS SO MUCH MORE MEANINGS AND STUFF SO GO CHECK IT THE BOOK IS AWESOME TOO!!!! this is my first post and I am still learning english

I watched that move, I like it. It shows how much out of our control is our life. How much "order" they have forced upon us. Like he said there is a lot of violence I agree on that. it shows how unhappy people are because of the "order". They also show easily people can be manipulated

Hello Bless. I think I got your question. But tell me this... How relevant is having beauty and not capitalizing it? How relevant is having the ability to make people laugh and not capitalizing it? How relevant is being a singer or a dancer and not capitalizing it? It doesn't have to be capitalized to be relevant. If you can, good. If you can use it to make things better, that's great My drawing skills is 2/10. But the my wife was happy to see the picture I drew of her. My 2/10 skill is relevant for me At the end it won't matter how much you capitalized. Hope you understood my view
Why do we need Philosophy?
These are my thoughts on the course "What makes Philosophy important": We need philosophy and I absolutely agree. And It's not taught in school as a general subject, because it probably incentives critical thinking too much. Being able to break down philosophical concepts allows us to break down ANY concept (in my opinion), many famous philosophers were also scientists, mathematicians and artists. Being a philosophers means discussing ideas with others, reflecting on you own worldview, thinking critically of mainstream narrative that the media and school try to convey. I believe that everyone should be a philosopher, yet very few today have the ability to. In ancient Greece, every citizen of Athens HAD TO be literate, informed and intelligent so they are to partake in discussions of judicial matters and town votes. The main message was that we all need to do what we want and for that, we have to first know what we want. And philosophy gives us the chance to immerse fully into that. We do need to be aware of not falling into the nihilistic side, where too much deep thinking sometimes makes you ultra-pessimistic. That's it, thanks for reading

@Thomas Williams Hi Thomas, I do think philosophy "needs" to be taught to everyone, because philosophy is not just the study about life, cosmos and meaning, philosophy is also the study of thoughts itself. It helps you (not saying it will), it helps you to think clearly, make sensible judgement. That's why most philosophers are also scientists. In today's world where even the illiterate is allowed to choose who rules us, it would be much better if at least the educated is able to make sense of the things. It also helps in day-to-day life to make better decisions in the society
What is the biggest dream of a slave?
I read this somewhere and it's thought provoking. The biggest dream of a slave is not freedom, it is to get a slave for himself. After living too long within a hierarchy, he forgets it is a system that confines him. Instead of breaking it, he seeks only to rise within it. We see this everywhere, The exploited employee becomes the unjust manager. The abused child becomes the abusive parent. Power without education becomes revenge. "When the education fails the oppressed becomes the oppressed" - Nietzsche So is it the just the problem of education or societal impact too???

@Julian K yea that do make sense but being slave to power and money is being slave to ourselves. Being slave to someone else, then afterwards the desire to one day own a slave is tragic
