MY BRAIN DID THAT THING IT DOES (YOU KNOW THE ONE) I was scrolling, yup just scrolling like a normal human, when I saw this post asking “How do you grow your community?” and immediately the comments filled up with the usual stuff, traffic, platforms, YouTube, TikTok, Frank (OBVS, because Frank will always Frank IYKYK), funnels, links, where people are coming from, how to get more eyeballs through the door… and honestly, I get it, that angle makes TOTES sense (before anyone gets their panties in a twist, I’m not even coming for it). BUT my brain didn’t go there first. It did that sideways tilt thing it does (the one where you pause mid-scroll and stare at thin air for a second like you’ve left your body), because whenever I think about growing a community, I don’t always start with how people arrive. (I still do have my traffic moment btw, let’s be real and open here)… but now I try to start with what happens AFTER they’re already inside. And then this question just sort of plopped itself into my head and refused to leave (like that crazy mosquito that buzzes around when I’m trying to visit the land of nod, and yes I can hear it right now just thinking about it) 🦟 Q — HOW DO YOU GROW THE PEOPLE INSIDE THE COMMUNITY? Not the numbers. Not the headcount. The HUMAN HUMANS. And that shift alone feels kinda massive AF to me, like one of those HELLO / DUH / OBVS moments where once you see it, you can’t unsee it (and now I’m not sorry because you won’t either). HERE COME THE PINGS dat PINGED!!! 💡 LIGHTBULB MOMENT #1 (THIS ONE MADE ME STOP AND STARE INTO THIN AIR FOR A BIT) A community doesn’t grow just because more people arrive. It grows when the people already inside start to MOVE. Not a race, not a performance, not suddenly becoming confident internet extroverts overnight (HMMM), just MOVE, from lurking to commenting, from commenting to sharing, from sharing to leading, from leading to actually feeling like they belong here and aren’t about to be judged for saying the wrong thing… (OOOF I love that bit because it’s so real).

And if I’m being honest, I’ve also been a little bit distant with my emails too, and I just wanted to say why, instead of pretending I’ve been super polished and intentional and all that jazz. Because… LOL. No. We had the whole festive thing, obvs, and I did actually give myself a bit of a RESET. A proper one. A little slowdown. A little “let me just breathe and not be ON for five minutes” moment. And that part was really needed. Not because I don’t love what I do … I REALLY do … but because sometimes you need to step back to feel the energy again, yeah? And also… Skool is just FRICKEN ON FIRE. Like, I am falling madly, obsessively, epically, borderline unhinged-ly in love with that space. I know some of you love it, some of you hate it, and some of you are still side-eyeing it like “hmm, not sure yet”, which is fair. EVERYTHING TAKES TIME. Platforms take time. Communities take time. Trust takes time. I’m good sauce with that. So here’s what’s actually going on in my world… I’ve got The Backroom, which is my $1 community, and yes… HELLO I’ve got a FREE TRIAL running right now. And I can hear some of you already going, “Why the fck would you do a free trial on a $1 community, Mimi?” And honestly? I don’t have some perfectly packaged answer. I wanted to TEST it. I was curious. I wanted to see what happens when the tiniest barrier is removed and people can just come in, have a nosy around, feel the vibe, see if it’s their jam or not. The Backroom is where the REAL SHIT gets said. Messy middles. Woops moments. Wobbles. Side thoughts. Half-formed ideas. Real humans having real conversations. No guru energy. No big-ass egos. No pretending you’ve got it all figured out. Just EPIC HUMANS being human. If that sounds like your thing, come have a look. If not, all good too. I’m actually almost pissing my bikini bottoms as I voice-note this, because my brain just threw me right back to the days when I used to teach humans how to breathe better. Not breathe instead of breathing — because, shock horror, you’re already doing that — but breathe better. And it was powerful. Transformational. Breathwork is f*cking magic and I’ll fight anyone who says otherwise. (Now I don’t do that anymore — well yes, duh, I still BREATHE — but for breathwork, head to the epic @Brandy Keenan ) But I honestly never thought we’d reach a point in business where I’d be sitting here, giggling like a maniac, about to launch something that feels like the exact same energy. I’m literally about to teach humans how to do something they already do every single day without thinking… and yet, somehow, somewhere along the way, they forgot how to do it properly. And no, this is not a trick question. I’m giggling because it’s so bloody obvious that the fact it even needs to be “a thing” is wild AF to me. Yet… here we are. Everyone’s knee-deep in funnels, dashboards, algorithms, strategy-swaps, content calendars, AI-this, optimise-that… (All epic shit, by the way.) But so many have completely skipped the ONE thing that actually makes the whole damn business work. It’s almost impressive how hard people have avoided it. I’m dropping the whole thing tomorrow. And ya know wot? It might just be the most “are you actually kidding me?” moment of 2025. Go on then… any guesses?
