I work as a naval architect, I design ships for a living. On Wednesday, I went down to my company's Philadelphia office. It's in the Navy Yard, and I took an extended lunch to walk around and see some examples of the eventual output of my work. This upcoming spring I am surprising my girlfriend with a trip to a Caribbean island for about 5 days; she thinks I’m taking her to the Florida Keys haha. Although I plan on just mostly spending time at the beach with her and doing a couple of water activities, I know I would at least like to take her a fancy restaurant or walk around the shopping plaza and take pictures. Do you gentlemen have any suggestions on any casual clothing I should bring or buy for this trip? Do any of you know how to style linen? What sort of shoes would you suggest for an environment like this? My style is more quiet luxury without breaking the bank aha.

So it is my understanding that for suits wool is the favored material by majority. But what about for sportcoats? Is there a material that we are supposed to avoid as far as polyester, linen, cotton??
