Subluxed my shoulder last summer in a roll. One of those weird ones that happen in transition and not a submission or something crazy. Luckily didn’t need surgery. Took a month off rolling per ortho’s orders but was still able to drill then slowly eased back into rolling with trusted training partners. Been back to full go the last few months thankfully.

@C L lower back is the worst. Glad you were able to find your way back to full functionality. I had a similar experience. Love that you looked for and were able to find a solution. To have to shut it all down at 41 would be rough, especially for someone as active as you sound. Good luck with it.

@Andy DeJesus thanks! Appreciate it. 🙏🏼
Happy New Year 🎆
Hey everyone, Thank you so much for being a part of this community. I am honored by your engagement and support. I started this group so that I could share what I’ve learned with people who don't have the proximity to the source that I’ve been so fortunate to have. I am truly blessed to be guided by Master Rickson on a daily basis. I trust that you have gotten something out of this trial period. I want everyone to have a place where they can feel supported by their peers and find the guidance they’re looking for. Many of you have asked for clear training paths, structure, and access to me so I am building it. More details to come.

Thanks for all the time and effort that you put into this. So grateful for all that you share so freely. 🙏🏼 I was just joking with one of our instructors the other day how I’ve met the most dangerous but simultaneously kind and generous people through jiu-jitsu and there’s no question that you embody that.
What do you want to learn first?
Which of these would you prefer to see first? If not one of these, tell me in the comments.

I voted for Standing Self Defense as self defense is always priority one for me but this is a great list. Eager to explore any and all of it. Thanks! 🙏🏼

@Chang Hwang thanks! Definitely all areas I’d like to improve. 🙏🏼

Be honest. This is a safe space. Select the option that matches your jiu-jitsu powers. This helps me tailor training discussions, drills, and self-defense concepts to the group. Vote so I know who I’m dealing with in here 😄 💬 Drop a comment: • How long you’ve trained • Sport vs self-defense (or both) • Or the belt you feel like on your best/worst day 😏

Been training for 9 years at a Gracie academy, so a self-defense focus. Purple belt. The belt I feel like always depends on who I’m rolling with - definitely have felt the effectiveness of jiu jitsu from both sides.
