2nd Osage bow build
Am exercising the limbs and finally tillering to get to 40lb draw 28”. Am happy with the results. I set up 2 knocks so I can string the bow that way. Hope to deer hunt with it next fall.

My buddy hunts in Ohio. He gets logs from local Amish farmers in his travels. So yes hard to get bow quality logs. He seasons them for years. He’s a bowyer with 50 years experience. I’m learning from him.

Shave bench
Just finished making this out of scrap wood. Will use it for all future bow making. Simple to make.

Osage bow
Just finished modifying my bow. Added lamination to limbs to increase draw weight. Installed string nocks. Made my own quiver also. Just ordered some wooden arrows to complete the outfit.

Osage bow
The finished bow was too light on draw weight. Have added laminated strips to inside limbs to strengthen near the handle and thus stiffen the limbs increasing the draw. Will show it when cured and finished off. The 2 laminates are stepped and add to where I took to much off originally. It’s an experiment. I’ll see how they tiller. Stay tuned.

Here’s the bow now with the added laminations. I used pl4000 caulk and clamped everything till it set up. Then using my knife and sandpaper feathers them to the limbs. Bow is now way more robust. Next is to exercise it and check tillering. Fun project. Lamination strips are oak. Bow has been sealed now.

Here’s the bow now. Need to nock the string. Bow handle done. I put a turkshead knot on it. Oiled the wood. Will wax the bow tomorrow. Pretty happy with it. Cutting the bow down fixed my brace problem.
