First Show
I've considered doing a Morning Show about this but I only have 3 hours. It would take me 3 months. So mine was 16 years old, Jane's Addiction with Mary's Danish opening at Eastern Washington University. I remember walking in to "Coming Down the Mountain" and seeing bodies flying in the air, everyone wearing black, just absolute MAYHEM and all I wanted to do was more of this! I stayed out the pit that day and just stood there in awe to be seeing and hearing the music from a band I loved. I was HOOKED. I think they played 30 minutes because Perry was a mess but I didn't know any better and in fact was shocked when I saw a band play longer! Also first show in Seattle? Pixies. Moore Theater.

My first live show experience was the World Series of Rock in 1979 when I was 16 years old. The event was held at Cleveland Lakefront Stadium where the Cleveland Indians played. The lineup was Aerosmith, Ted Nugent, Journey, Thin Lizzy, AC/DC and the Scorpions. It was complete chaos, five people were shot in separate incidents that day, but it was glorious from a pure Rock n Roll perspective. I have been addicted to live music since. I much prefer small dive venues to arenas at this point, but it was a great initiation.
Need a boost. 😊
We’ve lost three family members in three weeks and trying to stay strong for my mom with severe dementia. Rough these last few days. Need some song suggestions to boost and nurture my spirit. Any go to’s out there you go back to? The new Of Monsters and Men has been nice.

https://youtu.be/LAnI4tU0b6I?si=FTXNu25eJKEBxDim The whole album The Quiet Year by Suzzallo was written as a cathartic release for the grief Rocky Votolato experienced in the loss of his child and features moments of light and hope and the album turns pain into something beautiful.
How far have you traveled to see a band play?
Cheekface announced two distant 5-year anniversary shows for their 2nd album, Emphatically No. this morning. It got me thinking about maybe a trip out to catch one of them, and I thought I'd toss out a question for you all: what's the farthest you've traveled to see a show? For me, back in late 2019, I flew from Seattle down to Long Beach, CA to catch The Last doing a 40th anniversary show for their L.A. Explosion album at Alex's Bar. The Alley Cats, The Zeros, and Danny & The Doorknobs (a version of Trotsky Icepick) opened. It was an afternoon show, so I flew back after and was back home for dinner. 2nd pic is the Danny & the Doorknobs LP in my lap on the plane home that Vitus Mataré gifted me at the show for flying down to see them.

Flown from Myrtle Beach, SC to Seattle, WA several times for Rocky Votolato and Suzzallo shows.
Just finished touring with Suzzallo
Just recently finished a 2 week west coast tour with the band Suzzallo acting as Merch Sales, Roadie, Tour Manager Assistant, etc. Had an amazing time. If you have not already heard Rocky Votolato’s latest project Suzzallo… go check out the new album “The Quiet Year”. Great band and better human beings.
