Strength & Flexibility Workshop – My Journey and Yours 🌱✨
Hey Sanctuary Fam, Mark your calendar: 2/22/2025. We’re diving into a virtual yoga workshop designed for those of you who are ready to move with purpose, build strength, and rediscover your body’s mobility and unlock your potential. Why This Matters to Me Years ago, I found myself stuck—physically tight, emotionally drained, and mentally scattered. My body felt like it was holding me back, and I didn’t know how to break free. Yoga became my lifeline. It wasn’t just about the poses—it was about learning how to work with my body instead of against it. I realized that building strength isn’t about brute force; it’s about connecting to our foundation. Flexibility isn’t about forcing the body into a shape; it’s about you creating space for ease and flow. Over time, this practice taught me how to move better, feel stronger, and reclaim parts of myself I’d forgotten. This Workshop Is For You If… - You’re dealing with physical tension or tightness, especially in your hips, back, or legs. - You want to feel stronger and more mobile without sacrificing your peace of mind. - You’re looking for a supportive space to challenge yourself and grow. What You’ll Walk Away With I’ll be guiding you through practical techniques that I’ve learned along my own journey. Together, we’ll explore: - A full-body yoga flow designed to build strength and flexibility. - Breathwork techniques to help you feel more grounded and present. - Insights to carry these tools into your daily life. How to Join This virtual workshop will be hosted on zoom. All you need is your mat, your curiosity, and an open heart. Let’s take this step together toward building stronger, more flexible bodies and minds. Are you in? Drop a šŸ’Ŗ or šŸ§˜ā€ā™‚ļø below if you’re joining, and invite a friend to flow with us! https://pillar.io/justliketrevor/checkout/764e5d50-e4b7-11ef-97dc-77386514c982

Gah! No. šŸ˜ž I teach vinyasa until 11am and then it’s a 40 minute drive home (assuming I even leave as soon as class ends, which never happens. We usually drink tea and socialize a bit after) Will it be recorded with the option of attending/watching later?

@Trevor Taylor for real! People think I’m a little nuts for commuting 40-60 minutes to teach yoga. I’m sure I could find a studio much closer to my house. But I choose to teach there because it’s truly a special place. We’re building a real community that lifts each other up and empowers each other. It’s worth every minute of the commute! It’s basically an in person version of what you’re building here!

I want to focus on physical health and fitness because I’ve been so busy the past year, that has fell by the wayside. I teach yoga 2-3x a week on top of my full time job, which leaves me little energy or time for my own practice. However, when I make a point to fit it in, I feel so much better, which makes my sleep better, which makes my mental focus better. It’s all connected!

@Trevor Taylor @Brittani Jarrendt I think I’m still figuring it out, but one thing that helps is I teach the same flow for the entire month. I may tweak it a little depending on how the first week goes, but for the most part I’ll stick to it. So I only have to prep once a month. It saves me a lot of time and also my students like it because they become familiar with it and can see their progress from week to week. The other thing I’ve been doing is designating one day (usually Sundays) to prepare for the week. Food prep, cleaning, laundry, etc. I’ve found when I don’t do that, the rest of my week is chaotic and stressful. As for the amount I teach, I’m with Brittani there… teaching yoga is what lights me up, so even though it’s a lot, it gives me purpose. I’m not sure if this is the answer long term, but for now that’s kind of where I’m at. So I’m open to any advice on how to balance it all.

I don’t think I can make it tonight. But if I do get home in time, I’m fine with slow flow šŸ™‚
Day One- IX of Wands and Death
Today, instead of journaling about something from a sacred text, I decided to pull a couple tarot cards and reflect on that instead. I am by no means an expert at tarot, but here goes… Subject: IX of Wands (Resilience, courage, persistence, test of faith, boundaries). Death (endings, change, transformation, transition) Observations: The IX of Wands and Death is a beautiful pairing. The IX of Wands is basically the final push or struggle before the end of a chapter or phase or specific goal you’re working toward. And I like to think of Death as radical transformation (change that is exciting instead of something to be afraid of). Paired together it reminds me of Niyama #3- Tapas, which is heat or transformation. Through fire, we burn off what no longer serves us to make space to transform into something new. Struggle and suffering can make you stronger when you come out the other end. So even though lately I've been feeling a bit burnt out, like I’ve been through battle and came out a bit battered, those struggles are helping me to let go of what I no longer need so I can transform into a stronger, more compassionate version of myself. Application: IX of wands encourages resilience and persistence, but honestly pushing through can feel like burnout sometimes. So just like before Tapas, there’s Niyama #2- Saucha/Purity, I want to purify my body and mind to prepare for the transformation that is to come. For me, that means eating cleaner to help with mental clarity and energy, practicing moving meditation to calm the mind and getting enough rest to recover. By doing these things to help purify my body, I will have more endurance, which may prevent burnout as I’m in the final stretch. I will purify my mind by replacing any critical or self hating thoughts with ones of encouragement and compassion, so instead of focusing on the struggle I can express gratitude for the process. And if I feel any fear at the unknown or the changes on the brink of happening, I will remember that the process is paving the way for something greater. So by leaning into the change instead of resisting it will make it all easier.

@Trevor Taylor I’m so glad it helped you too. Often times when I pull cards, they’re not just for me. Looks like that message was meant for you too šŸ™‚
