We talked about: - a lot of strength training strategies - taste buds changing - choosing compound or isolation exercises - creatine cycling? - low fat diets - how to get more protein - free weights vs machines Thanks for joining and living through the toddler-tantrum stress with me! ♥️

Hi @Darren Liu . Question on “what’s confusing you theme”: My online coach of 4 yrs just blurted out last week that it doesn’t really matter between choosing compound exercises or isolation exercises 😱 I’m confusedddd because in strength blueprint I learn that it’s important to prioritise compound exercise 3-5 exercises and keep 1-2 isolations exercise. Help!

Lay them on me! Maybe think about: if there was one thing you can change about your lifestyle that would help you make a major shift in your fitness, what would it be?

Questions: 1. What’s the difference between RPE (rate of perceived exertion) and RIR (reps in range) and where would one use one over the other? 2. In Strength Blueprint (section 4), noticed the primary compound exercises were built on 3 sets and secondary compounds/ isolations have 2 sets. How to decide what gets 3 sets and what gets 2 sets, is it purely based on total weekly sets (8-12 sets per muscle group per week) or is there another science behind it? 3. Why are they emphasis on horizontal push and pull (mentioned to hv 1 set each) in strength blueprint but for vertical movement we can choose either push or pull but not necessarily both as emphasised for horizontal movement? Thank you and I may not be able to join live due to being at work but will def catch up on recording!

@Darren Liu Hey thanks for clarifying. I was making reference to what you mentioned in Strength Blueprint, ie to build the 6 exercise: - 3-5 are from compound exercise - 1-2 isolations - Of those, At least one exercise on horizontal push - And 1 exercise from horizontal pull - But to pick one from either vertical push or pull I’m just wondering why horizontal movements are and “and” means do both but vertical movements are an “or” ie choose one if need be. Hope that clarifies
