A challenge in the challenge
🔥 Day 13 of the Challenge and for some of us, even deeper than that. The cravings are quieter, the systems are stronger, and the discipline is showing up in ways we didn’t even expect. 🐬 This weekend, I challenge you to add a challenge to the Challenge. Step into a space where you normally lean on a vice and prove to yourself you don’t need it. ☕ Hit a coffee shop and skip the latte : drink water, eat some eggs, and enjoy the vibe without the jitters. 🎉 Go out with your friends sober : dance harder, laugh louder, and remember the night fully. 🎶 Show up to an event without “pre-gaming” with weed : prove your presence is enough to enjoy it. 📺 Watch a movie without snacks : sit in the story, not the sugar. 🍝 Go to dinner without ordering a drink : taste the food like you actually have taste buds. The point isn’t to punish yourself….it’s to discover how much of the fun was always you, not the crutch. 💡 Novelty rewires the brain faster than routine. Every time we prove we can enjoy life without a vice, we rewire dopamine to reward presence instead of poison. So this weekend, flip the script. Add a challenge to your Challenge. Show yourself that freedom doesn’t come from vices, it comes from choosing yourself. @Hakeem Mcfarlane that sounds lit 🔥 Sounds so much fun, YES to dancing/laughing louder sober!!!! Crazy but somehow I have not gone out dancing for several months… my last time was maybe in April… I don’t even remember.. but … TONIGHT might just be THE night 😂😋🥰
The Four Anchors of LIFE ⚓️
⏳ Time, presence, faith, and foundation : the four anchors that keep us steady long enough to see our blessings arrive. 🐬 The temptation when things feel uncertain is to get frantic, to numb out, to fall back into the very vices we said we’d let go.. but blessings don’t bloom overnight. Seeds need time, roots need depth, and storms need patience to pass. 💡 Our brains are wired with a negativity bias, meaning stress makes us over-focus on threats and under-notice opportunities. That’s why building a foundation gives our nervous system the calm to actually see the good when it comes. What stands in the way becomes the way.” Even our struggles are shaping us to receive what’s meant for us. 🙏 “Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” — Martin Luther King Jr. So don’t block your blessings by running back to comfort when things feel heavy. “This challenge is too strict” - not for the CYC 🐬
💥 “This Challenge is too strict… too militant… too much discipline.” - victimhood & addicts 🐬 The truth is, we’ve already been strict. We’ve already been disciplined. We’ve already been militant.. just in the wrong direction. Think about it: 🍬 Strict with sugar : sweetness in the morning, desserts at night. 🍺 Disciplined with liquor : weekend drinks never skipped. 🌿 Loyal to weed : premeal & bedtime ritual, like it’s scripture. 📱 Militant with screens : scroll after scroll, like it’s a second job. 🚬 Nicotine on cue : stress hits, and so does the lighter or vape. ☕ Caffeine clockwork : not a day missed sometimes twice. ⚠️ The problem isn’t that we can’t commit, it’s that we’ve been committed to our cravings. 🧠 Science proves it: sugar, nicotine, alcohol, and screens activate dopamine pathways the same way hard drugs do. That means we’ve already been living with militant discipline but toward habits that drain our energy, gut health, and focus. 🔥 The Choose Yourself Challenge (Sept 15th) isn’t strict. It’s a reset. It’s proof that the same loyalty we’ve been giving to our vices can be flipped into discipline for our purpose. And let’s be real …addiction loves to dress itself in logic: 🚬 “Nicotine helps me focus.” ☕ “Coffee helps me digest.” 🌿 “Weed helps me sleep.” 🍯 “Honey is natural, so it’s good for me.” Sounds reasonable… but the science doesn’t lie: 🚬 Nicotine spikes cortisol and damages blood vessels. ☕ Excess coffee wrecks our sleep cycles and depletes magnesium. 🌿 Weed blocks REM sleep — the deepest restoration our brain needs. 🍯 Honey spikes blood sugar almost instantly, just like table sugar. We don’t deny these things do something.. we deny that they’re necessary for peace, purpose, or performance. Out bodies, our minds, and our spirits are designed to function better without them. 🐬 Starting Sept 15th: 30 days. No vices! The real question isn’t “Can we commit?” The question is: “What are we already committed to and is it building us or breaking us?”

I'm afloat!
I looked back at my CYC activity and saw a pattern. I show up, then disappear, then come back. The difference now is the breaks are getting shorter. That’s a win for me. I still isolate sometimes, but now I know I’ll make it out of the dark places. This community keeps me afloat, and sticking to my foundations works. Keep swimming. Keep showing up. Keep growing. 🐬

Isolation is also a part of growth and if that’s what your soul calls at the moment it is totally fine Sometimes you need that time alone to recenter and focus your energy on you I do it often and I love it. It’s about balancing it all.. But remember that we re always stronger together, you are not alone💪🏾🙏🏽
