Rest
A question came up by someone. He asked why do I not take longer breaks (2-5 min) in order to have more strength in my one working set in order to get more reps! How do I respond to him? @Markus Reinhardt

It depends on what rest you mean. In a superset, there’s no rest ... resting kills the whole pre-exhaust purpose..lol. Between straight exercises, longer rest may get you more reps, but it lowers overall intensity and the adaptive stimulus. Keep rest minimal — just enough to recover breathing, not strength.

@Alexandro The Great I will film a video about it. Tell ur friend to join HDN
Should Markus add a TRT/PED topic
I was wondering about this. many guys on heavy duty nation are older and may use TRT I think it would be useful to have a topic about this and many also use peds maybe we could look at all this with the HIT mindset what do you think @Markus Reinhardt

I competed and advocate drug free High Intensity Training buddy. Wrong guy to ask about PEDS. I seriously could not comment on it with any advice. However, now that I am 55, I am going to look into TRT for myself . They very unlikely are going to make a huge impact on muscle gains however. This is more longevity stuff which I for sure will share my thoughts on more in detail as soon as I get on it.
Quick check-in.
I’m noticing more activity in here lately. Better questions. Smarter conversations. Less noise. That doesn’t happen by accident. Before I drop the next upgrades, I want to hear from you directly: What’s the one thing you’re struggling with most in your training right now? Recovery Frequency Intensity Progress stalling Mindset Or something else entirely No long explanations needed. Just be honest. I’m reading everything—and this will shape what comes next in Heavy Duty Nation. Markus

Merry Christmas to all of you 🎄
Alright HDN family I just shared that picture of me and Mike Mentzer here in Las Vegas and before anyone jumps in yes just kidding. It is AI. No alternate timeline. No resurrection tour. And let’s be real Mike would have absolutely hated this city. The noise the nonsense the circus. He would have torn Vegas apart in about thirty seconds flat which honestly makes the whole thing even funnier. All jokes aside the meaning behind it is real. The mindset the standards the refusal to follow garbage thinking in training and in life. That part is very real and that is what HDN is built on. I want to genuinely thank every one of you for backing this project. Not just clicking buttons or watching clips but actually supporting what I am building here. That does not go unnoticed. Enjoy today. Relax. Laugh. Be with your people. Then we get back to work. Because 2026 is going to be fucking huge. Much respect Markus
Merry Christmas to all of you 🎄

NO AB WORKOUTS - 100FKN PERCENT NATURAL
Came across this old photo and it stopped me cold. Ironman Naturally prep. Early ’90s.About 12 weeks locked in. Fish. Spinach. Sweet potatoes. That was it. I smelled like a fish dock every day 😂 Clients thought something was wrong with me. Nothing was wrong — I was committed. Shot at Gold’s Gym Venice by Jerry Fredrick. Later ran in Ironman Magazine. One of my first images ever published — and the one that led to my first supplement contract. This physique was 100% natural. No drugs. No tricks. And here’s the part that always surprises people: no ab training at all. Zero. Just brutal workouts, relentless cardio, and full compliance. Did I look a little flat? Maybe. Was I shredded to the bone? Absolutely. And I earned every line of it. Different era. Different rules. Same law: Commit fully or don’t bother showing up. HDN question for you 👇Do you have an old prep photo, transformation pic, or “this nearly broke me” phase from your journey? Post it on the wall. Tell us what you were chasing and what it cost you. Let’s see some real history in here. Markus

@Tristan Rail I would say once you developed a foundation by doing a few effective ab exercises ( with resistance to failure) the rest can be managed by movements that will incorporate them .
