Thursday Thoughts: Talent Is Not Enough
For my Thursday Thoughts, I want to share the lessons I have learned from my own goalkeeper journey — from being a young keeper dreaming of becoming a professional, to achieving that dream, then starting Just4Keepers in 1998 and helping tens of thousands of goalkeepers and parents around the world. My hope is that my experience can help you avoid mistakes, build confidence, and have a better goalkeeper journey than I did. Here is today’s thought: Talent is not enough. Over the years, I have seen many talented keepers fail because they lacked attitude, mindset, discipline, or consistency. I have also seen less talented keepers go further because they listened, worked hard, stayed humble, and kept improving. The higher you go, the more everyone has talent. So the difference becomes your character. My advice to you is: ✅ Work on your mindset as much as your technique ✅ Be coachable, even when feedback is hard to hear ✅ Never rely on talent alone ✅ Build discipline before you need it ✅ Stay humble and keep learning What are you now going to do with this advice? Please comment below. Let’s see your commitment. Your friend, Ray Newland

Excellent news
So mum has had a successful surgery this afternoon. She is obviously in some discomfort but glad it's done. I wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone that has sent well wishes and asked about her along the way.

Key Goalkeeper Movements to Boost Performance
Here is a video I made showing two movements/exercises that need to be ON POINT for goalkeepers to be effective in the position, and they are the hinge and the plank (which would also include the push up). Many athletes I work with have significant difficulty with what I refer to as "foundational movement patterns" and this contributes to restrictions in their overall performance as well as the development of pain conditions/injury. The solution is typically quite simple once you uncover the key factors causing the movement restrictions. Have a look and let me know what you think in the comments including ideas for future videos to help. If there's enough interest I can look at putting together an online class to teach some basic workout progressions folks can put to use! Just let me know! https://youtu.be/Wp9joi0kLnw
Thank you for this
