Fixed my shelves… Display is now complete!
So I’ve posted before about the LED underlit display shelves I built to fit in my display case… in my enthusiasm for building and installing a second set (thanks in no small part to encouragement from @Ben E ), I accidentally tore a wire out of one of the panels as I was jamming them into a snug space, and the bottom front panel was no longer lighting up. Well, my OCD won out and so I spent the morning today cutting a new panel and replacing the one that wouldn’t light. So now it’s safe to say that my shelving is complete. I like how it turned out. If anyone is interested in learning how I put it together, let me know — it was actually pretty easy

@Antonio Cent thanks! Here a summary of what I built them from: Shelves: Three shelves (I got the 40” version and cut them to fit): https://www.vevor.com/liquor-bottle-display-c_10565/vevor-wall-mounted-led-lighted-liquor-bottle-display-home-bar-shelf-40-1-step-p_010740772349 Walnut wood grain tape for the shelf edges: https://a.co/d/3GkWQce I got a 2 foot length of 1” wooden dowel rod at home depot and cut little legs to support (1.25” tall for middle shelf, 2.5” tall for top shelf). Little rubber nonskid pads for the bottom of each leg. Glue gun to attach the legs and glue the shelves together so they don’t slide around. The shelves use USB plugs for power so I got a USB 3 into 1 splitter so I can power them all with one USB outlet

@Justin Tillery thanks - they were relatively easy to make and I’m happy with how they turned out
Anyone else feeling disappointed at the direction of YouTube content?
So I’ve noticed a trend recently that Youtubers are spending more and more time glazing Middle Eastern brands and clones, with more and more “Top 5 dupes for summer” or “Top affordable fragrances for date night” or whatever that just keep recycling the same offerings. At the same time I keep seeing the same Youtubers at exotic locations, like the pyramids or Maldives for events thrown by these brands. Now, I always had to take with a grain of salt anything that these folks had to say for the most part, and I get that hyperinflation is putting more and more designer and niche offerings out of reach for most people, but I feel like the trend is resulting in less and less content that is relevant to me or that I feel I can learn from. Or that I can trust as being truly impartial. At the other end of the spectrum, there are a few true content creator connoisseurs that don’t seem swayed by paid promotions and aren’t following the trend to emphasize Middle Eastern and clone offerings, but my issue with them is they feature all these random super ultra niche houses and frags that are nearly impossible to sample — and when I do manage to sample them, for the most part they turn out to be beautiful works of art that are absolutely unwearable for me. So I’m feeling stuck in the middle and less and less satisfied finding content I like. Anyone else feeling this way?

@Lon Chaneyfield has had some great posts on US and European independent houses that do inspos - the point I’m trying to make here is where is the content on the latest Montagne, Alexandria or Dua offerings, both their inspired by and original creations? These are also affordable high-quality options, but no one’s doing any content on them, probably because those houses aren’t flying people off to posh locations and putting Rolexes on their wrists. Grr

@Stephen DeMent I feel like there’s still plenty out there - yes much of it is premium (eg for designers, boss collection line, Armani prive line, JPG private line etc; and tons of niches Arquiste, Tauer, FZOTIC etc) but again there’s a gazillion Dua, Alexandria, Montagne etc that I would love reviews of
Collecting overdose
I started off with a couple that let to a very large amount of fragrances for me, almost 40 full bottles plus A-ton of decants and discovery sets. The question here is which scents deserve a spot in the collection which one deserves a smaller bottle like 50ml or 30ml, which ones are good for 10ml, 5ml, 2ml decants and which should you skip all together. So where to start, There’s a base if it’s not full bottle worthy then it’s not worthy as a decant at all as I believe in this statement it’s not a fact it’s just a good base, again it’s just a base. Where I believe the smaller bottles 50ml 30ml is better then the 100ml is when you need less sprays and or your collection is big enough that you can’t wear as often so this way if in the future you no longer enjoy the same scent then you can finish the bottle faster (ex: I have a xerjoff Tony iommi monkey special 50ml as 2 sprays is all I need so if I grow out of it or don’t like it then I didn’t waste the same amount) where the 10ml and 5ml are great is where you enjoy the scent but it’s redundant in your collection and you would have better options like for example Versace Dylan blue there’s a lot better blue fragrances out there so owning a full bottle will get wasted, in this case 5-10ml will do if you still want it. Where the smaller decants come into place is actually testing in different scenarios or just experimenting, experiencing a certain scent profile. for that 1-3ml there’s no way around. agree disagree what’s your take on collecting and what size is your go to?

It really depends. I’ve found some fragrances for life that I got big bottles of and I’m glad I did - I’m burning through them. Others that need fewer sprays or are super expensive, I mostly go with 50ml. I’ve tested hundreds of decants to pick the ones that were full bottle worthy - many of them are meh and I use them from time to time, some just aren’t for me and I try to trade them for other decants to try out.

This fragrance is special to me because it started my fragrance journey since my wife gifted to me on Father’s Day of 2024. Although I stayed at home today with my family I wanted to wear this citrus bomb and glad I did. Haven’t used this one since summer of last year so it’s been a while. Although as I said before, being a citrus bomb, the dry down is very pleasant and masculine. You need to like citrus fragrances to enjoy this one. Looking forward to keep wearing this one during the summer and hot days.

This is such a good one. I really enjoy how it transitions from citrus bomb to woody mossy dry down.

Hello people of fragrances! Today is a baseball game where I am! Quebec VS New York if i'm not wrong. Looking at the weather before choosing my frag, it's gonna be warm, though it might rain later, between 3-4pm. Knowing that this gem is as good in warm or humid weather on my skin, 3 sprays and i'm ready to go! I'll try not to come back to it too much this summer...I want it forever!😅 Good day to you all😎

I’ve never tried this but if it’s true that it’s close to ADG Parfum, then you’ve got a banger!
