Healthy coping with stress
I have a question for the group. How does one cope with stress in a healthy manner when we weren't taught by a healthy role model or didn't have healthy role models growing up?

@Dr. Heath That covers all the basics right there, but hydration is so important, not to just people who work outside. I've seen where most Americans don't get enough water OR sunlight, I guess "touching grass" lol!

Im curious on the importance of role models even after we are grown also?
Are You Getting the Emotion Cart Before the Cognitive Horse?
Emotions ≠ Drivers of Behavior If emotions themselves caused behavior, then: • Every person experiencing anger would lash out. • Every person experiencing sadness would cry. • Every person experiencing anxiety would freeze. Our own thoughts CREATE emotions THEN, how we decide to think ALSO creates our behavior.

@Dr. Heath Ok, thanks, that makes sense to me now about the processing feelings vs thoughts!

@Dr. Heath This makes sense, I wonder how much past events or surroundings can make it harder to change the way we process the thoughts that first come to our minds? Thanks!
Weekend Mindset: Overwhelming Use of Overwhelming 😳
“Overwhelming” is yet another way of catastrophizing an experience. These days, every non-preferred event gets labeled “OVERWHELMING”. Remember, “overwhelming” refers to something that can kill us. Tornadoes, earthquakes, Tsunamis etc may, in fact, be overwhelming for this reason: They can be deadly. Overwhelmed is a cognition; a thought process NOT A FEELING. THINKING you are “overwhelmed” creates the FEELING/EMOTION of nervousness, anxiety, or panic. Something being nonpreferred or difficult or tiring does not equate to being overwhelming. Catastrophizing the hard things in life activates our limbic system but only because we have assessed them as being more threatening than they actually are. Our own words program our reality. Be careful how YOU are programming yours this weekend.

@Dr. Heath This is something that I still struggle to understand, but it made a lot of sense one day at the drs office when my BP was a little high... I said traffic was a nightmare, and he immediately said "well your blood pressure shouldn't be so close to hypertension over a small delay in traffic".... I understood it, but didn't really like it? lol 🤔

Thank you, i dont think people realize just how far a simple act of kindness or a compliment can go in someones life, it could make their day or week.
Smart Forgetfulness 🧠
Worried over forgetfulness? You may be worrying for nothing. Research suggests that forgetfulness can be linked to higher intelligence, as individuals with superior long-term memories often forget less important details. If we lacked the ability to NOT remember, our brains would be garbage bins of useless clutter. Join the discussion today on Midday☀️Mindset https://twitter.com/i/spaces/1DXGyqWWbEYGM

@Ruth aka Grace Rose @Liliana G That's a really good , well thought out post! Good points to you and Liliana! Keeping moving and walking around a couple of times helps me remember what I needed in the room and keeps me active while the brain is processing for me !
