Healthy coping with stress
I have a question for the group. How does one cope with stress in a healthy manner when we weren't taught by a healthy role model or didn't have healthy role models growing up?

@David Gardner Great question! We’re always deciding what to think about others and incorporating that into our psyche
Are You Getting the Emotion Cart Before the Cognitive Horse?
Emotions ≠ Drivers of Behavior If emotions themselves caused behavior, then: • Every person experiencing anger would lash out. • Every person experiencing sadness would cry. • Every person experiencing anxiety would freeze. Our own thoughts CREATE emotions THEN, how we decide to think ALSO creates our behavior.

@David Gardner From a logical fallacy perspective, focusing on emotions would be a “Red Herring”. This is something that takes our focus off the most important aspect of the matter. It would be like having a discussion about the Earth’s magnetic poles and someone brings up something completely unrelated like SpongeBob. Emotions are a Red Herring. The operating causal mechanism is always thought processes

@David Gardner Great point on the past. The difficulty is in developing an awareness of how we are deciding to think about the past. Our subconscious can be hesitant to allow a window into this awareness
Programming Your Own OS 💻
🚀 Mindset Masterclass Daily Nugget Your life isn’t random. It’s not luck. It’s not fate. 👉 It’s the output of your own mental programming. Every thought is code you write into your operating system. Write junk code, and you get junk results. Write strong, purpose-driven code, and you unlock higher-level outcomes. 💡 Today’s challenge: What line of “mental code” are you going to rewrite to upgrade your life? — Dr. Heath @therapy_bites

@Todd Hagood I agree, Todd but only if we embrace it
Angry Issues
To manage anger issues, start by identifying your triggers and warning signs. Then, practice relaxation techniques like deep breathing or mindfulness, and consider engaging in physical activity or creative outlets. If you find yourself in a stressful situation, take a timeout, step away, or distract yourself with a new activity🙂

@Russell Tripp Excellent! I’d recommend labeling thoughts accurate or inaccurate, realistic or unrealistic, healthy or unhealthy

@Russell Tripp Remember, you’re never managing emotion as that would be like “smoke management” You’re managing the cognitive functions CREATING the anger Anger is never the problem and does not need management; thoughts need to be managed
🎶Tune Up Your Mindset 🎶
When you hear something you love, your brain rewires how you experience discomfort. It’s not tempo. Not lyrics. Not a particular sound. Your own cognitions that have become associated with your favorite music activate reward pathways in your brain that help override pain signals. 👉 It’s the brain’s healthy cognitive response to familiar, enjoyable music that changes the whole experience. 🧠 Proof that what you think about sound shapes what you notice in your body. ☝️Curate your own playlist of favorite TOUGH TIME TUNES that can help you push through difficulty and pain. @Russell Tripp Yep, pain relies on a neurological gateway and music can interrupt the gated bridge
