Training update
Hi Lawrence Great your including free members again I've got an update, I'm now over 70% completed my Master Hituni course, 34 months to go for retirement and change to work as a PT. Through socialising with my friends group at my local I'm now being approached for advice on nutrition and recently been asked to initiate a friend & her teenage daughter at our local gym in Hit training, I will only be able to demonstrate proper form 1 to 1 and support their efforts away from the gym as I'm not qualified yet, but I see it as a great opportunity to practice my PT skills, help someone I know and slowly market myself for the time I'm free to devote myself fully to the work I want to do. Best regards & keep up the good work Nigel

@Bobby Kennedy Bobby, Process Improvement- Industrial Engineering? I have thought that Exercise Instruction should be part of Industrial Engineering.

@Bobby Kennedy I have ideas to fix that issue with ALL Engineering students.
How do you pay your trainers?
I’m curious what the general consensus is on how you pay trainers. Do you pay them as employees or contractors? Are they hourly employees and then if they don’t have clients how do you deal with that? Are they responsible for filling their own schedules? The way my gym currently does it is we are scheduled by the owner and we are paid per client. We can take two in an hour so every 30 minutes. If we happen to not have anyone scheduled for a half hour session or maybe multiple half hour sessions each day we don’t receive any compensation. Is that how most gems run?

@Lawrence Neal I really hope we can dig ourselves out of the tendency to replicate how hair and nail salon pay their employees. That’s what I’ve seen here. As long as trainers are paid no better than a hair stylist, they will act accordingly.
Free Personal Training Manual
Per Lawrence's request: I wrote this manual in the early 1990's for Gainesville Health and Fitness, and eventually adopted it into a Generic Manual. I released this as a 'Creative Commons Non Attribution' release. You are free to download it, copy it, rewrite it, or even put your name on it. Use it as you see fit. I am available for any questions or calls about it.

Plugged in an old hard drive and found these. These are handouts I used to give after the first session. Might be useful.

@Lawrence Neal, "They can take the foundation and modify it for their needs." That's EXACTLY what I want. I hope they re-share any changes, edits, or additions.
