Networking
Anybody else part of a networking group that meets in person? Local Traffic of transportation club? Chamber of Commerce? Marketing and Sales social Groups? Do you find good value in Networking with fellow professionals in person?

Absolutely! As an example: I met this guy @Steven Tittle who was full of value, had immense practical experience and was willing to share some insights. I learned a lot from him, and in conclusion he had just as much passion for the industry as I did. No really, it's true. So get out there, network, and share experience, and you, too, will learn something new.
Freight Forecasts
13 years in business and we just had our slowest January in 10 years. What would you think is the biggest determinant of this? The Economy, Politics, Consumer Spending? No matter where I look business is down. We didn’t lose accounts but the ones we have are slower. The rate of adding new clients has declined. It’s not just local or in any one service type. (First, Middle, Final mile/Warehousing/Crating/Cross Dock) There is a general decline in freight starting this year at all locations across all segments in all verticals. Historically January has always been great for us. Anybody got the answer?

Fuller, at Freightwaves said the freight recession was over, remember that? Shippers are in a holding pattern due to the unknown impact regarding tariffs. I am holding steady since Jan 1, we are however getting RFPs for additional work.

@Steven Tittle Yes, that's what it looks like. I know you know this but when the market flips, it doesn't happen right away it could take a couple of months to see the real impact.
Why do most freight brokers/agents struggle with sales?
➡️ They're boring and sound just like everyone else. Here are 3 of the worst sales pitches for freight brokers and carriers for that matter! 1. "Hey Joe we have trucks in your area and I wanted to touch base and see if we can help you move any of your freight?" 2. "Hey Joe I am a freight broker and have access to a network of over 5,000 trucks. I was wondering if we quote you on some of your lanes?" 3. "Hey Joe I am freight broker and I can save you money on your full truckload freight. I was wondering if I could quote you on some of your lanes?" I'd say that most brokers/agents use some version of these very bad and outdated scripts. Shippers have heard this crap for years and are sick of freight jockeys. All you are doing with these terrible scripts is TRIGGERING a negative response once they recognize speech pattern and cadence. This NEGATIVE response if very difficult to overcome. Impossible in most cases! Shippers don't want to talk to salespeople, but they are happy to talk to freight experts. Fact, is you only have 5-10 seconds or less to get your pospect's attention. For god sake, please ditch those old dusty 1980's sales scripts. When you sound like everyone else, don't be shocked when you get treated like everyone else. BE DIFFERENT!!! Any and all feedback, questions welcomed. 😎🍻

As a former shipper for over 35 years who managed over $120Mil in freight spend at one point, I used to get hammered every day on average. 30 -45 calls by uneducated, uninformed. Let's just make the call brokers as they have to reach their quotas. I hate brokers, so I became not a broker but a self-coined STLSP, Shipper Turned Logistics Service Provider. Brokers have a huge problem as they focus on the quantity of calls made rather than the quality. When I talk with my prospects. I promise them the following: I'll do my homework and research you and your company before I call you. I don't have the time to waste yours. I don't have truck capacity in hand, as I do not know where your lanes go. I do not have the cheapest rates because I care about your business. I do not have guarantees because I am not God. If a snowstorm occurs and a highway is shut down, I was not appointed Moses. Therefore, I can not part traffic or blow away the snow so my truck can pass. If you want to talk with an Honest, Transparent, Ethical service provider who will tell you what you want to hear and not, I'm that guy. That's why our customers have stayed on board with us for more than 4 years. I try very hard to treat shippers how I want to be treated when in their chairs.
What’s the deal with Landstar?
We have had to hit the DAT load board a few times this month for a client who has a project 5-10 flatbed trucks in a lane we normally don’t cover. Every post I get about 5 different Landstar agents (these are flatbed loads) who ask for more info than what’s posted on the board. I respond in full (rate, commodity, appt times etc etc). Not one of the agents ever respond back like asking for a different rate or anything. Literally each post I have done has been met with at least five landstar agent email asking for info in the load and never anything after that. I get the loads covered with others but Im just curious now why this keeps happening. Lol

Steve, you know me, call me! Let's talk.
How to grow a $15 - 20Mil company with 2 people
That is the question, and I have been working on it from many different angles. I have managed over $100 million when working for a corporation and have created extreme goals for my partner and me. Because I believe in what I do, I know what I have done, and therefore, there is no reason why this can not be attained. I have everything in place and am ready to pull the trigger. Have you ever seen the movie Lethal Weapon? When Pesci says, "Hi, I'm Leo Getz. Whatever Leo wants, Leo Getz, get it!" I replaced Leo with Cowboy. If you want something bad enough, you go all in. Going in means you are willing to take the hits and rejections and laugh off the doubters, haters, and skeptics. You do not last 40 years in the logistics by being weak. My advice to all who read this is that you'll face immense challenges in this industry. What you do with adversity when it hits will either make or break you. Don't let any barrier or obstacle stop you from your dreams, go out there and crush that shit!

@Nick Padgett I hope this answers your question. I do not do the spot market, I only handle dedicated enterprise accounts. All my accounts have been with me since I started my agency 5 years ago, and they have been growing. I do things differently as I have worked on the enterprise shippers side for over 35 yrs. We have the ability to scale on demand, so we are very particular as to whom we do business with, as I don't have the time to waste theirs. All it takes is 3 enterprise shippers and you're on your way. I work smarter, not harder that enables me to accomplish more in less time.

@Jeremy Griffnow Thank you for your question. I'm not into the "Big Hits" and running. I'm into building long-term business relationships with shippers and carriers; when dabbling in the spot market, these loads are here today and gone tomorrow. As an ex-enterprise shipper for 37 years, when I see loads on the boards from shippers, it tells me they have problems; a good shipper should be able to cover these loads if they have a handle on their business. Therefore, I'm dedicated. By being dedicated and staying off the load boards, I minimize the risks of Double-Brokering, Theft, and Fraud. RGTX Logistics Solutions only handles dedicated weekly and annual business. Our customers have been onboard with us for 3 - 4 years. Everything we do is from a shipper's perspective because I understand and have worked in their internal logistics operational trenches for 45 years.
