Anybody else see our very own @Robert Carpenter on 60 minutes last night? Exposing Chameleon Carriers and talking about the safety of all of us on our roads with these guys skirting the laws? Thank you Rob for representing all of us in Freight Logistics who care about the people, especially drivers who these rogue carriers hurt. Looking for feedback: Simple QR-based trip tracking system for fleets
Hi everyone, I’m currently working on a small prototype focused on fleet operations and wanted to get some real-world feedback from people actually managing fleets. The idea is simple: A system where supervisors can scan QR codes during loading and unloading to: update trip status capture location at each step reduce manual tracking and confusion I’m trying to understand if this solves a real problem or if I’m missing something important. Would really appreciate your input: How are you currently tracking loading/unloading? What’s the most frustrating part of your current process? Would something like this actually be useful in your day-to-day operations? If anyone is open to trying an early version or sharing insights, I’d love to connect. Thanks in advance 🙌 Prototype link:https://aistudio.google.com/apps/848735db-06f1-4f52-a9c4-7d864762c3ea?fullscreenApplet=true&showPreview=true&showAssistant=true
Where does Insurance start and stop on Professional Packers Liability?
All my Pack and Ship facilities are ISPM-15 certified facilities where we make export crates. This High Value coffee table was picked up and packed for shipment overseas. But we were asked to ship it to Rhode Island instead. The customer wanted to visually view the table before it left the country. Inspection of high value art and furniture is a common occurrence in our niche (custom pack and ship) The worry I always have in situations like this is we foam wrapped AND Pad wrapped this table completely. In Rhode Island they ripped all of it off to inspect the table so what are they going to use to rewrap? Pad the table? Also this nullifies the “Professional Packers Insurance” coverage to the overseas destination. It stops in RI because they unpacked it there. Of course the pad wrap keeps the table from getting scuffs or rub marks on the surface of the table. I have to always explain to the client once they unpack it our packing coverage stops even if they paid us to pack it to make all the way to Italy, which we did. War good or bad for the freight market?
I would bet the clothes off my back that the top 5 3PLs will report higher than expected revenue at EoY. If you’re a 3PL with clauses in your shipper agreement that adjusts for war or act of God you should be ahead, assuming you run freight based on a margin percentage.
