Hernia surgery
Hello! New to the group. Just had an inguinal hernia repaired at Shouldice March 14 and was released to fly back to the USA on March 17. I’m on day 26 today, and still doing the exercises and doing well I think. Tightness sometimes on and off, still quite a bit of numbness, and some quick “twinges” for the first time three or four times today. I’m a Spirit filled preacher, and was back in the pulpit 2 weeks and two days after surgery, but ended up in a little pain after preaching. Then a week later preached twice, and was ok, but a little swolen and sore that night and the next day - that was last Sunday. Preached again last night, which was Tuesday, two days later; and I was pretty well ok. Supposed to be flying out of state for a 4 day Revival this weekend and praying and believing that all will be well! I’ll add this also; in October on 2023 I was 240 pounds and today I’m 165 pounds - never been to the gym or took anything, just started eating clean and did body weight excises at home. Lost body fat and gained muscle. My abs were just starting to be really visible, and then I had the surgery. Looking forward to getting back to that routine, it’s called V-shred RI90 by Vince Saint, but it’s quite strenuous and I want to be wise - I’ll be glad to never hear the word surgery the rest of my days. 😆

I’ll avoid strenuous routines right after surgery , jayce routine is very well structurated and has progressive overload so is better for you to heal and recover I believe, also I’ll say to anyone of there try to be patient about pain and don’t over touch the surgery area in case even that it was laparoscopic I was irritating the site and having pain only for over checking and touching that feel disappears as short as I stop to touch and be more patient

@Bj Riley so/so I went to wdw so I avoid the most. Strenuous rides but I was able to get into some nice rides like avatar flight, all of the Star Wars ones without major problem I just avoid those roller coaster with a lot of turns However as an advice my body was not prepared for that long walks and I started with back pain I believe this happens because the body compensates the injuried core with other parts so I recommend to wait a little maybe 6-8 weeks post op so you can enjoy the visit more with out that much risk of colateral stuff
Back pain after surgery?
Hello guys I have developed some back pain after my surgery, I started like three days from the surgery and decrease after some days when my core started to feel better how ever in a recent trip, pain in the groin was very small and I walked and stand a lot almost the whole day at second day back pain returns and increases every day until I stopped walked and standing that much Know two days after my trip the back pain is better but I need to alternate positions (walking , seated) to avoid pain, being totally standing could. Increase the pain I’m going to see an specialist for the back pain, my hernia surgeon says is probably a muscular contraction and must go with some local heat but I’m not to sure about it Has anyone experience something similar ?

i could bring a tip for everyone out there is that in early stages of the hernia repair try not to stay in the same position for a long time since that could bring to back pain alternate between standing walking and sitting short periods of time around 20-30 mins max Jayce program also helps with that

Hi Jayce mm it turns out I have another problem related with my back MRI confirmed but I wasn’t aware until this pain coming from back postures post op Now I have another hernia related concern I couldn’t find that much info out there It turns out after few weeks 6 weeks I guess the opposite side of my repair feels swell (my repair was indirect left hernia) I have gone to my surgeon and get checked with ultrasound and he say my repair is ok and the other side is also ok but somehow I feel a similar discomfort like in the repair side don’t know why because I haven’t make efforts others than some stretches also I have avoided core exercises and being really conservative about that
Hello (and post-op pain?)
Hello to the group. I recently had an inguinal hernia fixed at Shouldice. Today is post-op day 13. As others have probably experienced, the incision site/area is somewhat numb for a while after surgery... my numbness has just started to go away (around post-op day 11). Is it possible that as sensations return, some pain will also re-appear? I've been doing really good recovering - incision looks good and is not painful, but I'm having some other 'internal' pains. I'm guessing this is where the hernia was actually fixed internally(?). I've had a few rather sharp pains while stretching in bed, in an area that is like 2" below the bottom of my incision and right in the crease of my groin... I wouldn't have thought the surgeon would be working that far from the incision, so all I can guess is that it's some kind of residual nerve pain. There is no bruising that far down and there is no swelling - but when the pain stabs me there it throbs for a while. Anyone else experienced this? I'm not sure whether to "wait for it to go away" or to contact Shouldice. I really just want to ask them if this is normal... there is nothing to 'see' at an in-person appointment - like I said, the incision site looks fine. (anyone know if they do phone appointments?)

Has anyone had pain in the opposite side of the repair? Today I coughed a little bit and surprisingly the pain was in the opposite side side of my repair (left hernia repair pain in the right side ) so I worried a lot in my case I didn’t had make any effort or excersise but the first days of Jayce program which are very calm so it doesn’t make sense to me to develop another hernia at the time
Sleeping tips
Hello I wanted to post some tips that helped me sleep better in early recovery days and wanted to hear some coming from the community In my case (left inguinal laparoscopic) was very hard to sleep on side so I started to sleep on back position so here some recommendations - use a towel or a firm enough pillow in your lumbar zone to reduce back pain as a support - Use a pillow below your knees also helps for back posture and I heard for blood flow into your legs - Sleeping mask in my case help me a lot because my curtains aren’t blackout - Keep basic things closer but distractors, in this case keep my medication closer and some water help me to didn’t get out of bed and return to sleep easier Hope this helps some of you and wanted to hear yours also folks.
