Hi, I’m Colby. I’m the owner of Clifton Tree Service and Leavenworth Snow Removal, two service companies based in the Cascade Mountains of Washington State. At Clifton Tree Service, we focus on tree removals, pruning, and wildfire fuels reduction with an emphasis on safety, professionalism, and efficiency. Leavenworth Snow Removal is our winter division, where we provide reliable residential and commercial snow clearing to keep properties safe and accessible during heavy mountain winters. Both companies share the same foundation: a commitment to high-quality service, strong team culture, and systems that allow us to scale while keeping customers at the center. My role is to build businesses that not only deliver great work in the field, but also operate with consistency, professionalism, and profitability behind the scenes.
💰Challenge: Pick Your Most Profitable Service
You can’t dominate your market trying to be everything to everyone. The fastest way to scale is to pick ONE flagship service — the one that’s most profitable, repeatable, and in highest demand — and make your entire marketing revolve around it. This week’s challenge: Identify your most profitable service and commit to the one you’re going to dominate your market with. Step 1: Copy This Prompt Into ChatGPT Paste the following and fill in the blanks: I own a [type of service business] called [business name] in [city/region/state]. I want to get crystal clear on my most profitable service and pick the one I should dominate my market with. Please walk me through this by asking clarifying questions and then give me a clear recommendation. Specifically, help me identify: 1. Profitability – Which service gives me the highest gross margin or best return on my time/equipment. 2. Repeatability – Which service is easiest to systematize and deliver consistently. 3. Upsell Potential – Which service naturally leads to add-ons or larger jobs. 4. Market Demand – Which service my ideal customer is already looking for in my area. 5. Brand Positioning – Which service could position me as the go-to company in my market. Then, based on all of this, tell me: - Which one service I should double down on. - Why it makes sense financially and strategically. - How I can frame it as my flagship service in my marketing. Write your response in plain, clear language so I can use it to guide my business focus and messaging. Step 2: Post Your Answer In The Comments Below ✅ Share your chosen flagship service and a short summary of why you picked it. 👉 Example: “I’m choosing fire mitigation because it’s high-margin, repeatable, in high demand locally, and positions us as the wildfire experts in our market.” Step 3: Give Feedback To Others Read at least 2 other posts in this challenge and drop one quick comment on whether their choice makes sense (and why). 🔥 By the end of this challenge, you’ll know exactly which service is your money-maker — and the one that will lead all your marketing going forward.

1. Profitability - Silver: Low margin. A single weekly pass doesn’t always justify equipment/labor, especially after a big dump where costs don’t change but revenue is fixed. - Gold: Better, since it’s storm-triggered and priced higher, but still limited — no second pass means less labor but also less premium pricing. - Platinum: Highest margin per client because pricing reflects both urgency and extra service (second-pass berm removal). Your guess of ~30% net after labor/equipment is reasonable. - One-off/Emergency: Good cash grab, but not scalable or predictable. Disrupts routes and eats margin if you’re already committed to seasonal clients. ✅ Winner: Platinum 2. Repeatability - Silver: Easy to systematize (same day every week), but doesn’t cover storms properly → customers may feel underserved. - Gold: Storm-dependent, predictable with good route planning. - Platinum: Consistent system — every storm + every berm. Customers know exactly what they get. Easy to document and train crews on. - One-off/Emergency: Zero repeatability. Always reactive. ✅ Winner: Platinum 3. Upsell Potential - Silver: Budget-minded customers are less likely to add tree service, firewise, or PHC later. - Gold: Moderate — they see value, but not fully committed to premium. - Platinum: Your dream client. If they’re already paying for white-glove snow removal, they’ll happily invest in tree care, fuels reduction, fire mitigation, and other services. - One-off/Emergency: Very limited upsell potential. They’re short-term, not relationship-focused. ✅ Winner: Platinum 4. Market Demand - In Leavenworth/Plain/Lake Wenatchee, your ideal customer is the high-income second homeowner. Their #1 concern: accessibility when they’re not here full-time. - Silver doesn’t solve their needs (storms don’t wait until Thursday). - Gold gets close but still risks driveways being blocked by berms. - Platinum solves the exact problem they hate most: “I drove all the way here, and the berm has me trapped.”
💡Challenge: Create Social Media Posts With GPT
📲 ChatGPT Prompt for Social Media Posts Based on Your Value Statement Copy, paste, and fill in the blanks with the prompt below: "My Value Statement is: [paste your final value statement here]. I want you to help me create social media post ideas that are consistent with this statement. Please give me: 1. 5 short-form post captions (under 200 characters) I can use on Facebook, Instagram, and Google Business. Each should feel authentic, simple, and customer-focused. 2. 3 medium-length post drafts (150–250 words) that tell a story or give practical tips connected to my Value Statement. These should feel like I’m talking directly to my ideal customer, not “corporate” or robotic. 3. A call-to-action (CTA) line bank with 5 variations I can rotate between, such as “Call today for a free estimate” or “Book your service before [seasonal trigger] Make all posts specific to my service and local service area so they feel relevant and rooted in my community. Please ask me any questions if you need answers to help you complete this to the best of your ability."

🔹 1. Short-Form Captions (under 200 characters) 1. ❄️ Winter won’t wait — book your Platinum snow removal today and guarantee clear driveways all season in Leavenworth & Plain. 2. Arrive to a clear driveway, even after the county plow rolls by. That’s the Platinum difference. 3. Premium service. Second-pass berm clearing. Safe access all winter. Secure your Platinum spot now. 4. From Icicle Rd to Lake Wenatchee — trusted snow removal that keeps your home accessible, no matter the storm. 5. Don’t risk being snowed in. Platinum service guarantees priority plowing + berm removal. Sign up before spots fill. 🔹 2. Medium-Length Post Drafts (150–250 words) Post 1 – Story-Style Every year, the first big storm catches homeowners off guard. Driveways get buried, the county plow leaves a berm, and suddenly guests or family can’t get in. That’s why we created our Platinum Service. It’s designed for homeowners in Leavenworth, Plain, and Lake Wenatchee who need more than a quick plow — they need guaranteed access. With Platinum, you’re not just on our priority list. You also get a second pass after the county plow so berms never block your driveway. When you arrive at your home, you’ll know your driveway is clear, safe, and ready — no shovels, no stress, no waiting. Spots are limited because we only take on as many Platinum customers as we can service with absolute reliability. 👉 Secure your Platinum spot now before the snow flies. Post 2 – Practical Tip Leavenworth winters are no joke. On average, our area gets over 95 inches of snow each season — and much of that can fall in a matter of days. If you’re relying on a “call when needed” plow, you’ll likely be waiting in line after a storm. Instead, consider a seasonal service plan. Our Platinum level guarantees you’re first on the list after major storms and includes second-pass berm removal when the county plow comes through. That means your driveway stays usable, not just plowed. Think of it as peace of mind on autopilot. You don’t have to call, text, or worry. We’re already on the way.
💡Challenge: Write Your Value Statement

Step 1: Answer These Building Blocks Fill in these blanks: 1. Who do you help? → __________________ 2. What do you do? → __________________ 3. What result do they get? → __________________ 4. What makes you different? → __________________ Step 2: Plug Into the Formula 👉 We help [WHO] with [WHAT] so they can [RESULT], through [DIFFERENTIATOR]. Write your draft Value Statement here:→ ___________________________________________ Step 3: Adapt for Each Channel Use your Value Statement as the foundation, then drop it into these formats: 🔹 Social Media Bio “Helping [WHO] with [WHAT] so they can [RESULT]. 📞 [phone] | Free Estimate” 🔹 Google Business Profile “At [Business Name], we specialize in [WHAT] for [WHO]. Our mission is to help them [RESULT] through [DIFFERENTIATOR]. Call today for a free estimate!” 🔹 Website Homepage - Hero Headline: “Protect Your Property with Expert [WHAT] in [LOCATION]” - Subheadline: “We help [WHO] achieve [RESULT] through [DIFFERENTIATOR].” - CTA Button: “Request Your Free Estimate” ✅ Your Action: Post your completed Value Statement here in the classroom. 👉 Pro tip: Even if it feels rough, share it. You’ll get feedback from the group and can refine it fast.

biggest mistake guys like us make...
if you could only offer ONE service, which one would you offer? i fell into the trap of saying "yes" to too many things and I see a lot of owner operators making the same mistake the most successful business owners i've interviewed on the pod have 1 thing in common... they pick 1 service and DOMINATE their service area what's your most profitable service? what would happen if you put all your time, effort, and energy to marketing & selling more of that service? rather than saying yes just to "keep my customers happy" what if you started saying no to the work that isn't making you any money ? check out this video to learn how i'm narrowing our service offerings to cut the fluff & specialize
