Lil quote on discipline
Without discipline and just leaning into the idea of "this is just who I am" or "this is my nature", we would all still be pooping our pants... Some of the things discipline requires: -delaying gratification -acceptance of responsibility -dedication to truth -balancing

This is true, and sadly it’s the places we struggle the most where discipline is most needed. Which is where I fail. I lean in to what is familiar and comfortable rather than unfamiliar and beneficial. Something to work on

@Georgiana D true sometimes it’s nice to have a break from falling though 🤣
To experience the rainbow you need the rain
We all like to see the rainbow but nobody likes the rain that comes with it. But most things worth having come with some version of inconvenience. There is effort, discomfort, giving something up, or doing things before they feel easy. If you want the rainbow, the rain will be there. And you don’t wait for perfect conditions. You get decent boots, a coat and you get out. Because if you wait until everything feels comfortable, the rainbow is gone. What kind of rain are you avoiding right now?

Principles of Success (Day 4: DISCIPLINE)
In the last three days we spoke about the first 3 principles of success as described in "The Rhythm of Life" by Matthew Kelly (more here : day-1-purpose; day-2-priorities; day-3-balance ). Today we delve into the fourth principle: Discipline (Just a small but important note, the term success here can be applied to many areas of life, and ultimately, it's really just about intentionally becoming the best version of yourself.) Principle 4: DISCIPLINE “Discipline is choosing between what you want now and what you want most.”-Abraham Lincoln “No man is free who is not master of himself.” -Epictetus “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” -Aristotle This one can be rough...In many ways people looking in may think that I'm pretty disciplined in a lot of areras of life...but there are many that I want (or....want to want?) to be more disciplined in and I fall again and again...The easy way out, the distractions, the comfort, the lure of the status quo sometimes still win out.. Stemming from the Latin for "to teach," discipline is training for self-control and character. Benefits of discipline involve better outcomes, stable relationships, and increased well-being. It fills the gap between intention/dreaming and reality. Discipline is...wait for it....discipline is self-respect in action. We want to respect ourselves, don't we? Small repeated choices shape our character and it builds self trust and each small act of discipline is a lil vote towards the person we want to be and over time these votes compound. Compound effect is a real thing! Think about the direction you want that compound effect to go. Pychologically, discipline is closer to self-regulation than self-control and it's more about creating conditions where success is more likely. When we struggle with follow through, it'srarely because of laziness (which sometimes people shame themselves with this type of language) but it's more likely that the nervous system is overwhelmed, dysregulated, or trying to avoid pain.

We All Have Purpose
Here is a poem I recently wrote when I needed a gentle reminder of the message contained. I hope it helps someone else see and believe this too. We all Have Purpose I hear you ask how you follow your dreams What dreams are yours but they’re yet to be seen How can they be seen when you don’t believe Believe in yourself, all you can achieve We all have purpose as hard as it seems It seems our lives have been ripped at the seams Sew the seams up and learn how to live free Free from your prison, let your dreams lead We all have purpose, there’s something within Within yourself not the rut you’re stuck in Don’t talk yourself out before it begins Begin your life’s lessons, growths how you win Step outside of your box, push yourself far Farther than comfort, at least make a start Start working on you and look to the stars They’re shining on what God placed in your heart Don’t be held captive by all your mistakes Mistakes are made to evolve into great Greater humans, know it’s never too late Too late to reflect, to see what’s at stake You mustn’t give up on what you can do Do and become to become the true you The you that God doesn’t want you to lose Don’t lose yourself, open doors and walk through Whatever those dreams you want in your life Live to your fullest, you’re made to survive Survive the setbacks so whilst we’re alive We’ll live and believe that Gods on our side We all have talents, there’s some buried deep Believe you’re enough and go take that leap Let’s leap to our futures, the lives we seek Are out there waiting, right in our reach Karen L Hamilton
