🤔Debate: How Should a Career Coach Look Like?
Happy friday everyone! Today I want to bring back our debates and discuss something that has been on my mind: 🤔How should a career coach look like? We know that first impressions matter. Clients often judge us (whether they admit it or not) by how we present ourselves—what we wear, how we speak, and even what our background looks like in a Zoom call. So, I would love to hear your perspectives on these superficial aspects of career coaches: 1️⃣ What should a career coach wear? - Is it always about suits and ties, or can a casual yet polished style work? - Do you adapt your look based on your audience (executives vs. creatives)? 2️⃣ What should their background look like? - Think virtual and physical spaces: clean and professional, or cozy and relatable? - Do certifications and books in the background add credibility, or is it overdone? 3️⃣ How do you recognize another career coach? - Is there an unspoken “coach uniform”? - What signals (visual or otherwise) make you think, “Yep, that’s a career coach!”? 4️⃣ Does appearance actually matter in our field? - Is it all about what we know and how we coach? - Or does dressing and presenting like an expert amplify our impact? Would love to hear your thoughts! Share your take on these questions, personal experiences, or even how you’ve crafted your own “coach look.”

Interesting topic. Your appearance is part of your brand. For me, I want to portray casual, relaxed, and still be professional. I've done my 'suit' time, but that isn't who I want to work with. I work with creatives. They tend to be casual. 🙂 If I worked with CEOs, I might dress differently. For my background, I show either art on the walls, or go with a solid background. I don't want the background to be distracting. Looking forward to hearing other's thoughts!
Looking forward to learning and growing

💡Don't wait until 2025 to start doing something
I read something today that kept me thinking about the importance of taking action NOW. At the end of the day, the only thing we have is the present. And I guess some of you (and here I include myself) may be thinking about the goals for next year... But what about the things we can start doing today? Let's think about something we want to get done before 2025 starts. What's something we can start doing now? It can be personally or professionally. Putting it into words will help us commit to it and hold each other accountable. ⬇️ Leave a comment with something you will start implementing or continue doing this week that will help you achieve your goals.
